Initial Step Placement. Employees who are new to the District and are in a unit position shall be placed on Step 1 of the appropriate range for that classification. Effective July 1, 2011, all classifications will be hired at Step 1.
Initial Step Placement. New employees normally shall be hired at the first step in 25 the salary range for the classification. New employees with exceptional or unusual 26 qualifications may be employed at higher steps in the salary range by 27 recommendation of the District and action of the Board of Education. 28
Initial Step Placement. When an employee is regularly appointed into a title covered by this Agreement or moves from one title covered by the Agreement to an appointment in a different title under this Agreement, shall be governed by Civil Service Rules.
Initial Step Placement.
5.6.1 Nothing in this Agreement shall prevent faculty members from being hired on a salary step above the minimum step or above the step placement granted in Article 5.6.5.
5.6.2 Auxiliary faculty member rates shall normally be based on the minimum step of the salary schedule in Appendix I, (Salary Schedule) for the first 19 consecutive assigned duty days and thereafter based on the step which reflects appropriate placement for the 20th and each subsequent day in the same discipline. This does not preclude the initial hiring of auxiliary faculty members at rates higher than the minimum step of the salary schedule.
5.6.3 All faculty members shall have the right to discuss their initial step placements with the appropriate Vice President or delegate. All faculty members have the right to have an Association representative present at any discussion.
5.6.4 It is the responsibility of newly hired faculty members to provide evidence of their credentials and experience in support of initial step placement to Human Resources at the time of hire. The Xxxx, Director or Department Head shall advise each newly hired faculty member to provide their credentials and experience to Human Resources. In the event that a new faculty member does not provide evidence of their credentials in support of initial step placement within one month of the date of receiving their first appointment letter, then Human Resources will determine the faculty member’s initial step placement on the basis of the evidence provided.
Initial Step Placement. At the time of employment, each teacher will be placed on the highest num- bered step for which he/she qualifies in accordance with the column of the Teacher Salary Schedule entitled “Initial Placement”. Other relevant teaching experience may result in higher initial step placement as determined by the Chief Human Resources Officer.
Initial Step Placement. The initial step placement shall reflect the number of years of experience for which credit is given on the salary schedule and will be determined at the college. Credit for teaching experience and/or relevant work experience, (as determined by the college president or designee), shall be granted on a one (1) for one (1) basis according to the full-time aggregate of experience. The aggregate sum of experience shall be rounded up to the next salary step. For example: 1.5 years of experience equals Step 02; 5.25 years of experience equals Step 06; 4.00 years of experience equals Step 05. Credit for military experience shall be granted only in cases where the faculty member leaves the college for military service and returns to the college after completion of the service and then shall be on a one (1) for one (1) basis.
Initial Step Placement. New temporary employees shall generally be appointed at the minimum step of the salary range established for the particular class of position to which the appointment is made. However, the appointing authority may fill a particular position at a step above the minimum of the range if mutually agreeable guidelines have been developed in advance or the Director of Human Resources (or designee) offers to meet confer with the Association on a case by case basis each time prior to formalizing the appointment.
Initial Step Placement. Teachers shall be given year-for-year credit for out-of-district teaching experience at the time of initial placement on the salary schedule. Teacher experience, for salary schedule placement purposes, shall include all experience in K-12 positions requiring a teaching credential.
Initial Step Placement. Unit members may be given credit on a year for year basis at the time of initial placement on the salary schedule for previous teaching experience which occurred after receipt of a valid preliminary teaching credential, not to exceed twenty (20) years. A year of previous teaching credit will only be awarded if the teacher actually worked 75% of a school year. Previous credit will only be awarded if the previous teaching was within the authority of the credential after receipt of the credential. No credit will be given for previous teaching occurring prior to the unit member being credentialed, teaching which occurred outside the scope of the credential, or teaching services rendered which are not ordinarily expected of a teacher with that credential. Initial placement may be on any step of the salary schedule. All experience shall be in a school accredited by a recognized accrediting organization and verified in writing according to District procedures. Written verification of prior teaching experience must be received by the District within thirty (30) calendar days after the first day of employment or thirty (30) calendar days after the unit member signs a contract of employment with the District, whichever occurs first.
Initial Step Placement. 10 Unit members may be given credit, on a year for year basis at the time of initial 11 placement on the salary schedule, for previous public school teaching experience which 12 occurred after receipt of a valid preliminary teaching credential. A year of previous 13 teaching credit will only be awarded if the teacher actually worked 137 days with the 14 same school district during said school year. Previous credit will only be awarded if the 15 previous teaching was within the authority of the credential after receipt of the credential. 16 No credit will be given for previous teaching occurring prior to the unit member being 17 credentialed, teaching which occurred outside the scope of the credential, or teaching 18 services rendered which are not ordinarily expected of a teacher with that credential. 19 Initial placement may be on any of Steps 1 through and including Step 11.
