Inservice Programs. In order to assist employees in developing new skills, the Board may require inservice training. Employees who are required to be enrolled in inservice programs, which cause the employee to travel outside Okeechobee County, shall receive mileage at the Board approved rate. Employees required by their immediate supervisor to attend local inservice training programs outside the normal working hours shall be paid at the rate provided in the current salary schedule.

Inservice Programs. A. Employees shall be eligible to participate in in-service programs offered by independent agencies or the District, provided there are available registrations, and further, employees shall be entitled to develop appropriate in-service training programs. B. On days designated as Superintendent’s Conference Days, employees shall attend workshops developed for the bargaining Unit and approved by the supervisor unless their attendance is requested by their building principal at school building programs and approved by the supervisor. C. A $500.00 (per school year) fund shall be established which may be used for the purpose of paying for costs such as film rental and speaker honorarium on Superintendent’s Conference Days and during Unit 10 workshops.

All inservice programs shall be applied toward re-certification requirements if approved by the Staff Development Committee and Superintendent. Teacher representation on the Professional Development Committee developing the District’s Professional Development Plan for submission to the State shall be appointed by the President of the Rochester Federation of Teachers.
Inservice Programs. The Board shall seek the Association’s advice on arranging inservice courses, workshops, conferences and programs designed to improve the quality of instruction in the Rose Tree Media School District. Such advice shall be coordinated through the Professional Development Committee.
Inservice Programs. To further support efforts in continuing education, the Highline- Education Steering Committee (ESC) shall be asked by the Medical Center, as a joint request of the Employer and the Union, to explore possible alternatives to help improve job-related inservices, such as inservice availability, staff coverage for inservice attendance, announcement improvements, monthly department presentations, “lunch ‘n learn” programs, etc. The ESC shall periodically report on its review and decision(s) to the parties’ Labor-Management Committee.

(b) The Employer reserves the right to identify specific in-service sessions as being compulsory for Employees and those required to attend such sessions shall be paid at the applicable rate of pay for the time in attendance. The following in-service programs shall be compulsory and shall be provided to Employees on an annual basis: (i) CPR (only when established by the Employer as a mandatory requirement after an Employee is hired) (ii) Fire, evacuation, and disaster procedures; (iii) Proper lifting and prevention of back injuries; (iv) WHIMIS; (v) PPIC (vi) Abdominal Thrust (c) Employees who, with prior approval of their supervisor, attend in-service programs which are not identified as compulsory by the Employer shall suffer no loss in regular earnings for attending such programs. (d) The Employer shall make available other in-service education programs as deemed appropriate for the purposes of maintaining proficiency.

Inservice Programs. The Board agrees to the inclusion in the contract of the present Board policy for in-service programs and payment. In-service programs conducted during the normal school day are excluded from additional payments. All other in-service programs conducted outside the normal working day are subject to payment under Schedule C. All employees are expected to attend professional development sessions as scheduled during the school day. In terms of this Article, the year is defined as July 1 to June 30.

  • Catastrophic Leave Program Leave credits, as defined below, may be transferred from one (1) or more employees to another employee, on an hour-for-hour basis, in accordance with departmental policies upon the request of both the receiving employee and the transferring employee and upon approval of the employee's appointing authority, under the following conditions: A. The receiving employee is required to be absent from work due to injury or the prolonged illness of the employee, employee's spouse, registered domestic partner, a domestic partner listed on an “Affidavit for Enrollment of Domestic Partners,” submitted to employee benefits, parent or child, has exhausted all earned leave credits, including but not limited to sick leave, compensatory time, holiday credits and disability leave and is therefore facing financial hardship. B. The transfers must be for a minimum of four (4) hours and in whole hour increments thereafter. C. Transfers shall be allowed to cross-departmental lines in accordance with the policies of the receiving department. D. The total maximum leave credits received by an employee shall normally not exceed five hundred twenty (520) hours; however, if approved by his/her appointing authority, the total leave credits may be up to one thousand forty (1,040) hours. Total leave credits in excess of one thousand forty (1,040) hours will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the appointing authority subject to the approval of the Chief Administrative Officer. E. The transfers are irrevocable, and will be indistinguishable from other leave credits belonging to the receiving employee. Transfers will be subject to all taxes required by law. F. Leave credits that may be transferred under this program are defined as the transferring employee’s vacation credits or up to twenty-four (24) hours of sick leave per fiscal year. G. Transfers shall be administered according to the rules and regulations of the Auditor and Controller, and made on a form prescribed by the Auditor and Controller. Approvals of the receiving and donating employee, the donating employee's appointing authority and the receiving employee's appointing authority (in the case of an interdepartmental transfer) will be provided for on such form. H. This program is not subject to the Grievance Procedure of this Agreement.
