Investigator Pay. When a Deputy Sheriff is assigned in writing by the Sheriff or his designee and serves in the capacity of Investigator, the employee shall be reclassified to the Investigator range of 420 for the period of service as an Investigator.
Investigator Pay a. Employees assigned full time to perform the duties of a Vehicle Theft Investigator or Fraud Investigator who meet or exceed performance standards in all critical tasks on their annual performance appraisal shall receive $50 per month.
b. Assignment of an employee to a full-time position to perform the duties of a Vehicle Theft Investigator or Fraud Investigator shall be based upon qualifications and experience desired to perform the specific assignment. Employees selected shall also have met or exceeded all critical tasks identified on their annual performance appraisal.
c. An employee accepting an assignment to perform the duties of a Vehicle Theft Investigator or Fraud Investigator after September 1, 1995, will be assigned for a specific period of time as specified by contractual agreement of the appointing authority or his/her designee, and the employee; this contractual agreement is to be signed by the appointing authority or designee and the accepting employee. The initial contractual agreement shall not be of a duration less than three years except when mutually agreed to by the appointing authority and the employee.
d. Reassignment of an employee from a Vehicle Theft Investigator or Fraud Investigator position as a result of a contractual agreement is not considered a removal for cause.
e. Notwithstanding any other provision in this Agreement, the provisions of this Section shall be grievable up to Level III of the grievance procedure.
f. This item will not be considered compensation for retirement purposes.
Investigator Pay. Except for assignments made as part of the Patrol Enrichment Program, (PEP), or the Department Enrichment Exchange Program (DEEP), an employee in the classification of Police Officer who is assigned by the Chief to perform peace officer duties as a K-9 handler, in the Traffic Bureau, Family Crimes Unit, Special Investigations Unit, Crime Scene Investigation, Auto Theft-Burglary-Arson Unit, Juvenile Bureau, License office, Training and Development Unit, Record Bureau, Detective Bureau, D.A.R.E., Crimestoppers, Violent Crimes Unit, Gang Strike Force, Financial Crimes Unit, Neighborhood Impact Team, Property Crimes Unit, community relations, street crimes, school resource officer, school patrol, or any other unit designated by the Chief for Investigator Pay under this article shall, during the time they are performing the tasks of the assignment, be paid Pay Range 327E, together with any additions to pay provided for in this Agreement.

Investigator Pay a. Level I Arson Investigators are appointed by the Fire Chief. Level I Arson Investigators are Level II Arson Investigator trainees. Level I Arson rate is 4.6% above a Firefighter Paramedic 40-hour Step G rate at time and one-half.
1) Level I Arson Investigators assigned to an incident or approved training while off duty will be compensated the full Level I Arson Investigator rate.
2) Level I Arson Investigators assigned to an incident or approved training while on duty will be compensated the difference between their current hourly rate and the current Arson Level I Investigator rate (differential).
b. Level II Arson Investigators are appointed by the Fire Chief. The Level II Arson Investigator rate is 11% above the Arson Level I Investigator rate.
1) Level II Arson Investigators assigned to an incident or approved training while off duty will be compensated the full Level II Arson Investigator rate.
2) Level II Arson Investigators assigned to an incident or approved training while on duty will be compensated the difference between their current hourly rate and the current Arson Level II Investigator rate (differential). The parties agree that to the extent permitted by law, Investigator Pay is special compensation and shall be reported as such pursuant to Title 2 CCR, Section 571(a)(4) Fire Investigator Premium.
