Leave for Union Purposes. Officers and other members designated by the union president shall be given leave with pay to conduct Union-related business, which shall include, but is not limited to, the processing of grievances, negotiations, and local, state, and national conferences. Paid Leave for Union Purposes during the first four (4) years of the term of the CBA: Employer paid leave for union purposes shall not exceed a combined total of 268 hours annually, to be divided up among eligible employees.

Leave for Union Purposes. An employee who is appointed or elected to a full-time position with the International Association of Fire Fighters or the British Columbia Professional Fire Fighters’ Association, or if accepted to an institute of learning under labour sponsorship, shall, if he/she so requests in writing, be granted leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority for a period not exceeding four (4) years. Such leave may be granted or renewed by mutual agreement between the District of West Kelowna and Union, subject to departmental operational requirements.
Leave for Union Purposes i) The Employer shall grant leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority to Employees elected or appointed to attend Union conventions or schools: or to perform any other assignments within the Employer of Xxxxxxxx that are intended to improve his representation of the bargaining unit. Not more than six (6) Employees, with not more than two (2) from any Job Title will be absent at any one time, but by mutual agreement a greater number may be excused. The Union shall give the Employer one week notice of applications for such leave in writing, wherever possible. The leaves of absence granted under this Article 21.02 a) i) shall not exceed sixty (60) days in total in each twelve (12) month period of this Agreement.

  • Unpaid Leave for Family Purpose a. An employee may elect, with the consent of the employer, to take unpaid leave for the purpose of providing care and support to a member of a class of person set out in sub-paragraph (ii) or paragraph (c) of sub-clause (1) who is ill.

  • Leave for Union Business The Hospital agrees to grant leaves of absence, without pay, to nurses selected by the Union to attend Union business including conferences, conventions and Provincial Committee meetings and to any nurse elected to the position of Local Co-ordinator. The cumulative total leave of absence, the amount of notice, the number of nurses that may be absent at any time from one area and the number of days (including those of the Local Co-ordinator) is set out in the Appendix of Local Provisions. During such leave of absence, a nurse's salary and applicable benefits or percentage in lieu of fringe benefits shall be maintained by the Hospital and the local Union agrees to reimburse the Hospital in the amount of the daily rate of the full-time nurse or in the amount of the full cost of such salary and percentage in lieu of fringe benefits of a part-time nurse except for Provincial Committee meetings which will be reimbursed by the Union. The Hospital will xxxx the local Union within a reasonable period of time. Part-time nurses will receive service and seniority credit for all leaves granted under this Article.

  • Leave for Union Activities Upon request by the Union, leave without pay will be granted to any employee duly authorized to represent employees of this bargaining unit at:

  • Leave for Union Office Upon request of the Union's President, the Employer will grant leaves of absence without pay to bargaining unit employees who serve as Union representatives or officers for up to one- hundred twenty (120) days, if it is consistent with operational needs. This leave will be for no more than one time per year per employee and no more than fifteen (15) employees per year who must be from different Departments.   • Use of Vacation Leave for Sick Leave Purposes The Employer may allow an employee who has used all of his or her sick leave to use vacation leave for sick leave purposes as provided in Article 12.2 A. An employee who has used all of his or her sick leave may use vacation leave for sick leave purposes as provided in Article 12.2 B – H.
