Long Term Occasional. Teacher means a teacher who is employed as a replacement teacher for the same teacher for more than ten (10) consecutive teaching days. Statutory holidays, professional development days, and days disrupted by inclement weather or special programming shall not constitute an interruption in a working assignment.
Long Term Occasional teacher means an employee whose employment as a Casual Occasional teacher in one (1) position has been for a continuous and uninterrupted period of ten (10) instructional days or more.
Long Term Occasional. Teachers in alternate day or half day assignments shall not be required to attend parent- teacher interviews, staff meetings, or Professional Activity/Development Days during the period for which they are not scheduled to work, without compensation at their LTO rate.

Long Term Occasional. Teaching experience done for the Board or with other school boards in Ontario or any province or territory of Canada in blocks of twenty (20) or more consecutive full teaching days;
Long Term Occasional. Teachers who accept a long term occasional assignment that is longer than eighty (80) instructional days shall have the option to participate in the NTIP program at the Board’s expense.

Teachers who have agreed to teach at least sixty (60) consecutive Days for one teacher, in a predetermined assignment, and Long Term Occasional Teachers who have completed sixty (60) consecutive Days for one teacher in an assignment without a predetermined start and end date shall be entitled to participate in Life Insurance, LTO Health and Dental Plans available to Elementary Teachers as set out in the current Elementary Teachers’ Collective Agreement, subject to the terms and conditions of the Insurance Policy. Payment of the premiums necessary to enrol Elementary Occasional Teachers shall be in the same percentages as stipulated in the Collective Agreement between the Board and the Elementary Teachers. Any Occasional Teacher having selected benefits who then chooses to withdraw from the plan, shall not be eligible for reinstatement for the balance of the current school year. An Occasional Teacher who has completed his/her assignment may retain these benefits, at the Occasional Teacher’s own expense, until the end of the school year.

Long Term Occasional. (Temporary) Designated Early Childhood Educators” refers to a person employed by the Board on a long-term temporary basis to replace an Early Childhood Educator on leave. Temporary positions will be posted if the permanent Early Childhood Educator is absent for more than ten (10) days. Long- Term Occasional (Temporary) Designated Early Childhood Educators must be registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
