Long Term Occasional. Teacher means a teacher who is employed as a replacement teacher for the same teacher for more than ten (10) consecutive teaching days. Statutory holidays, professional development days, and days disrupted by inclement weather or special programming shall not constitute an interruption in a working assignment.
Long Term Occasional teacher means an employee whose employment as a Casual Occasional teacher in one (1) position has been for a continuous and uninterrupted period of ten (10) instructional days or more.

Long Term Occasional. Teachers in alternate day or half day assignments shall not be required to attend parent- teacher interviews, staff meetings, or Professional Activity/Development Days during the period for which they are not scheduled to work, without compensation at their LTO rate.
Long Term Occasional. Teaching experience done for the Board or with other school boards in Ontario or any province or territory of Canada in blocks of twenty (20) or more consecutive full teaching days;
Long Term Occasional. (Temporary) Designated Early Childhood Educators” refers to a person employed by the Board on a long-term temporary basis to replace an Early Childhood Educator on leave. Temporary positions will be posted if the permanent Early Childhood Educator is absent for more than ten (10) days. Long- Term Occasional (Temporary) Designated Early Childhood Educators must be registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators. Temporary Early Childhood Educators (DECE) are members of the Bargaining Unit with access to only the following articles:

Long Term Occasional. Educational Assistants looking to increase their assignments or Supply Educational Assistants looking to secure a long term occasional assignment are eligible to apply to non-permanent vacancies. No applicant from outside the Bargaining Unit shall be considered for posted vacant positions unless there are no suitable qualified and able internal applicants. Nothing in this clause prevents the Board from advertising the positions concurrently within and outside the Board.
Long Term Occasional. TEACHER shall mean a teacher who is employed as a substitute teacher for a period of more than ten (10) consecutive teaching days.
Long Term Occasional. Teacher vacancies which the Board intends to fill shall be identified and either of the following should occur:
a) A Principal may make a direct recommendation for hire to the Board if the candidate is a member of the Bargaining Unit.
b) Known vacancies will be posted and the Principal will interview for the position according to the following
i) The vacancy is posted on the Internal Jobs Opportunity page of the Board’s web site for a minimum of four (4) days during the school year. Such posting shall only be available to bargaining unit members, however, external applicants can be equally considered. If two (2) or less qualified Bargaining Unit members apply, they shall be interviewed.
ii) The Board will make every effort to post known Long Term Occasional (LTO) positions for one month during the summer. Vacancies that become known subsequent to the start of the posting period will be posted for four (4) weeks or until August 31st whichever comes first.
iii) Such postings shall have job posting number, location, grade/subject, start/end dates and closing date. A copy of such posting shall be provided to the president of the Association during the first week of each month, with the exception of August.
iv) In determining the successful candidate, the factors to be considered should include but not be limited to the following: • Experience • Qualifications • Interview • Evaluation
v) All interviewed applicants should be advised of the outcome, and upon request, shall be provided with feedback.
vi) It is the Board’s intent to develop a process to electronically track the compliance with this article for those Bargaining Unit members who have applied through the Internal Jobs Opportunity page of the Board’s web site.
Long Term Occasional. Teacher vacancies which the Board intends to fill shall be identified and the following should occur:
a) When a teacher with the Board is prescheduled to be absent for teaching duty for a period of at least fourteen (14) days, and the vacancy is known by Human Resources at least 2 weeks prior to the start date: available to bargaining unit members, however, external applicants can be equally considered.
