Longevity Incentive Pay. An employee who has ten (10) years of uninterrupted continuous County or Court service shall be eligible for an increase in compensation of 5%. Employees with twenty (20) years uninterrupted continuous County or Court service shall be eligible for an increase in compensation of 5%. Effective November 16, 2015, employees with twenty-five (25) years uninterrupted continuous County or Court Service shall be eligible for an increase in compensation of 5%. Longevity is a cumulative benefit calculated on an employee’s base wage and any prior longevity. Longevity calculations shall be counted from the initial date of probationary appointment (preparatory to a Regular appointment), or temporary appointment and there was no break in service, as long as there has been no separation from County or Court service. Time spent in layoff status (prior to the effective date of this MOU), on medical leave or any unpaid leave greater than 30 calendar days shall not count as time worked for longevity calculations. Subsequent to the effective date of this MOU, should an employee be separated from Court employment due to layoff, and then return to Court employment while in layoff status their calculation for longevity purposes shall be based on their initial date of hire into a position prior to the date of layoff minus any time spent on such layoff, medical leave or any unpaid leave greater than 30 calendar days.

The hourly rate will be calculated by dividing the annual educational incentive by 2,074 hours. Educational incentive pay will be included in the regular rate for overtime purposes. In addition, it will be counted as part of the employee’s annual salary for pension purposes, consistent with the prevailing Fire & Police Employees Retirement System regulations, and reflected on the salary schedules.
