Education Incentive Pay. An employee shall be entitled to receive educational incentive pay as follows: 1. An employee earning an intermediate police officer standard training certificate shall be entitled to additional payment in the amount of one and one-half percent (1½%) of base pay, payable biweekly. 2. An employee earning thirty (30) college credits from any accredited college, fifteen (15) of such college credits in the division of law enforcement, shall be entitled to additional payment in the amount of one and one-half percent (1½%) of base pay, payable biweekly. 3. An employee earning an Associate’s Degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science or Administration of Justice from any accredited college shall be entitled to receive additional payment in the amount of three percent (3%) of base pay, payable biweekly. 4. An employee earning an advanced police officer standard training certificate shall be entitled to additional payment in the amount of three percent (3%) of base pay, payable biweekly. 5. Any employee earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, or Administration of Justice or related field receiving prior approval of the Police Chief and the Human Resources Manager from any accredited college shall be entitled to receive additional payment in the amount of six percent (6%) of base pay, payable biweekly. 6. Any employee earning a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, or Administration of Justice or related field receiving prior approval of the Police Chief and the Human Resources Manager from any accredited college shall be entitled to receive additional payment in the amount of eight percent (8%) of base pay, payable biweekly. An employee who is entitled to more than one of the above incentive pays shall receive the higher payment and no combination thereof; also, it shall be the personal responsibility of the individual to furnish a certified transcript to Human Resources before payment will be made.

Education Incentive Pay. Employees who hold a Bachelor’s Degree or higher from a college or university accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, International Association of Universities, or National Association of Credential Evaluation Services are eligible to receive one hundred fifteen dollars and thirty-eight cents ($115.38) biweekly (approximately two hundred and fifty [$250] dollars per month). In order to receive the Education Incentive Pay, the employee must provide a written request to the Department with a copy of the employee’s transcripts from the accredited institution awarding the Bachelor’s Degree or higher degree. The Education Incentive Pay will be effective the first full pay period following the Department’s receipt of the employee’s transcripts reflecting the award of a Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.

A deputy commencing with his/her tenth (10th) year of service, who has an Advanced DPSST Certificate and an associate of arts degree (two (2) year degree or the equivalent), shall receive an education incentive pay of two percent (2%). B. Education Incentive Pay. The District shall pay $500 (one time, lump sum) to any employee who is awarded an associate academic degree by an accredited college or university and $1,000 (one time, lump sum) to any employee who is awarded a bachelor academic degree by an accredited college or university; however, this incentive pay will be paid only for associate and bachelor degrees awarded after the employee has been employed by the District for at least six months. Education incentive pay shall not apply to any employee whose current District job description requires the degree being awarded.
Education Incentive Pay. The established pay schedule is as follows: 9 1. Pay at the rate of fifty dollars ($50.00) per month, prorated for less than eight (8) hours, for each ten (10) college semester credits or approved equivalent, not to 11 2. The following will control this benefit: 23.1.1 The credits must have been earned without financial aid from the City. 23.1.2 The hours earned must be in a major area that will develop skills needed for fire service subject to prior approval by the Chief. However, credits that are earned not directly involving fire service, but necessary to attain an Associate of Arts and Science degree, or an Associate of Applied Science degree, or a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree or a Bachelor of Applied Science degree subject to the Employee receiving the applicable degree will be counted for premium pay. This provision is to be subject to the following limits: 23.1.3 Education incentives are not to be considered until the employee has completed one (1) year of employment. 23.1.4 All incentive pay for AA/BA are subject to prior approval by the Fire Chief. 23.1.5 Education incentives shall not exceed three percent (3.0%) for achieving AA and five percent (5.0%) for achieving a BA of base wage per month..
