Minimum Rest Break. Employees must have a minimum of 10 hours rest break between working on consecutive shifts. For the purposes of determining whether sufficient time has elapsed, ‘travelling overtime’ will be counted as worked time. Employees (other than a Casual Employee) who are absent from duty during ordinary working time (on approved rest break) will be paid at ordinary time rates.

Minimum Rest Break. As a general principle, Employees will be afforded a 10 hour break between successive shifts without loss of pay for rostered hours during such break. For the purposes of determining the 10 hour break, ‘travelling time’ will be counted as worked time. Under this Agreement, Employees will provide a degree of flexibility to this general rule (up to a maximum of 2 hours or in other words reduce the rest break to not less than 8 hours). Such flexibility will only be utilised under the following circumstances: • On request from an Employee’s Supervisor; • With mutual acceptance by the Employee concerned; • Not more than twice in any one pay period; • Not where there is any risk to the Employee or public safety; • The Company fatigue management procedure has been followed. Employees must ensure they have taken their appropriate break and will not be entitled to additional penalty rates unless directed to return to work early by their Supervisor. Where an Employee is directed to return to work early, the applicable penalty rates for the Employee’s regular shift will be time and one half for the first 2 hours and then double time for further hours worked until relieved from duty. Employees (other than a Casual Employee) who are absent from duty during ordinary working time (on approved rest break) will be paid at ordinary time rates for such approved time.

  • Rest Breaks Employees shall receive a fifteen (15) minute break during each four (4) hours worked. It is the Employer's intention to provide uninterrupted rest breaks.
