National Board of Professional Teaching Standards. Each year, the Board will assist the first two (2) teachers who volunteer to begin the process for certification with the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. The teachers must volunteer in writing to the Human Resources Office and will be covered as follows: A. The Board will reimburse up to $1,000 of the initial registration fee. The teacher will exert his or her best efforts to timely apply for all available grants, with reasonable assistance from the Human Resources Office. The Association will make efforts to inform interested teachers and the Board of available grants from MEA, NEA, the State Board of Education, and other sources. For up to two (2) subsequent years, the Board will provide the teacher, upon request, $300 for the retake fee in one area each year. B. The Board will reimburse the teacher for all reasonable post-registration expenses related to the NBPTS process in accord with Board policies and procedures. C. The Board will provide the teacher with up to two (2) days of paid release time, without deduction from the teacher’s leave accumulation, for participation at the NBPTS assessment center. Additional release time for participation or preparation may be provided as the teacher and principal/supervisor mutually agree; such additional release time to be deducted from the teacher’s personal business days, or as a last resort, sick leave accumulation. D. Materials provided for NBPTS assessment on paid time and using Board equipment or materials shall be the property of the Board if the material has applicability beyond the use of the teacher. E. Upon successful completion of the NBPTS process, and in recognition of their achievement, teachers who receive NBPTS certification shall receive a $5,000 stipend. It will be awarded at a public School Board meeting at which the teacher’s achievement will be recognized. F. The Human Resources Office, the Association, and involved teachers will jointly review this offering and make future recommendations concerning the certification and other possible recognition for successful achievement of NBPTS certification. G. NBPTS applications and activities are optional. Teacher may terminate their involvement at any time. If a teacher terminates for reasons other than their own personal medical condition (to be documented by a healthcare professional if requested by the Board), the teacher will reimburse the Board the portion of the initial fee paid by the Board. National Board of Professional Teaching Standards. 1. The School District shall reimburse classroom teachers up to twenty­five hundred dollars ($2,500.00) for application fees and expenses incurred in apply­ ing for National Board of Professional Teaching Standards Certification. The classroom teachers shall only be eligible for reimbursement for fees and expenses involved in applying for National Board of Professional Teaching Standards Certification after receiving certification. 2. During the initial application process for the National Board of Profes­ sional Teaching Standards Certification, the School District shall provide up to one (1) day of substitute service for a classroom teacher within thirty (30) days before their portfolios are due. The teacher must request the day of substitute service at least two (2) weeks in advance. 3. All teachers who receive certification from the National Board of Profes­ sional Teaching Standards shall be given an annual bonus of seven thousand five hundred dollars ($7,500.00) for the length of their certification. 4. During the period of their certification, a National Board of Professional Teaching Standards certified teacher may be requested to assist or mentor another teacher, including but not limited to the following, by leading profes­ sional development, establishing a model classroom, or assisting a teacher in applying for National Board of Professional Teaching Standards Certification.

  • Local Professional Development Committee A. There shall be a Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC) to oversee, review, and approve individual professional development plans (IPDP) for course work, continuing education units and/or other equivalent activities. 1. The LPDC shall be responsible to recommend for the Superintendent’s approval, all in-service activities and workshops offered in the district during the school year for staff professional development. 2. Recommendations for District Workshops and In-Service activities should be submitted to the LPDC for approval and recommendation no later than the last school day of the year prior to the year it will be implemented. 3. The LPDC chair shall review and approve all “Professional Growth Reimbursement Application” forms. B. The LPDC shall consist of three (3) teachers appointed by the Association President and two (2) members appointed by the Superintendent. One of the Superintendent's appointees will be a Principal employed by the district. C. Appointments shall be for two (2) years with half of the committee members being appointed every other year. 1. Appointments shall be made on or before May 1. 2. The Appointments shall be made by each party outlined above, notifying the other of those appointed. 3. In the event of a vacancy, the committee members shall be replaced in accordance with "B." above. 4. The Association shall name a fourth teacher member and the Superintendent shall name a third administrative member to serve as alternates and attend trainings. These two (2) people shall act as substitutes when a committee member is absent. D. This committee shall meet monthly. 1. The committee may also be convened by the request of two sitting members. 2. A quorum shall consist of five (5) members. When administrative licenses/certificates are reviewed, two (2) sitting teacher members will abstain and the decision will be decided by three (3) members. 3. If the committee determines it is needed, they will be provided two (2) professional release days to meet during regular school hours. Substitutes will be provided for the committee members on these release days. 4. Committee members shall be provided an additional annual stipend of $1,000 for meetings beyond the normal work day or year. This stipend shall be paid in two (2) semi-annual payments. Any member who fails to serve the full year shall have the above compensation prorated on a monthly basis for each month served. 5. Decisions of the LPDC will be made by consensus of the committee members present. 6. The committee minutes shall be prepared and maintained in compliance with the laws governing the operation of committees of public bodies.

  • Hospital-Association Committee (a) There shall be a Hospital-Union Committee comprised of representatives of the Hospital, one of whom shall be the Chief Nursing Officer or designate and of the Union, one of whom shall be the Bargaining Unit President or designate. The number of representatives is set out in the Appendix of Local Provisions and the membership of the Committee may be expanded by mutual agreement. (b) The Committee shall meet every two (2) months unless otherwise agreed and as required under Article 8.01 (a) (iv). The duties of chair and secretary shall alternate between the parties. Where possible, agenda items will be exchanged in writing at least five (5) calendar days prior to the meeting. A record shall be maintained of matters referred to the Committee and the recommended disposition, if any, unless agreed to the contrary. Copies of the record shall be provided to Committee members. (c) The purpose of the Committee includes: i) promoting and providing effective and meaningful communication of information and ideas, including but not limited to workload measurement tools and the promotion of best practices. Such communication may include discussion of nursing workload measurement and patient acuity systems. The Hospital will provide, upon request, information on workload measurement systems applicable to nursing currently used by the Hospital, and evaluations completed by the Hospital of such systems. ii) reviewing professional responsibility complaints with a view to identifying trends and sharing organizational successes and solutions, making joint recommendations on matters of concern including the quality and quantity of nursing care and discussing the development and implementation of quality initiatives; iii) making joint recommendations to the Chief Nursing Officer on matters of concern regarding recurring workload issues including the development of staffing guidelines, the use of agency nurses and use of overtime; iv) dealing with complaints referred to it in accordance with the provisions of Article 8, Professional Responsibility; v) discussing and reviewing matters relating to orientation and in- service programs; vi) promote the creation of full-time positions for nurses, and discuss the effect of such changes on the employment status of the nurses. This may include the impact, if any, on part-time and full-time, job sharing and retention and recruitment. (d) The Hospital agrees to pay for time spent during regular working hours for representatives of the Union attending at such meetings. (e) Where a Committee representative designated by the Union attends Committee meetings outside of her or his regularly scheduled hours, she or he will be paid for all time spent in attendance at such meetings at her or his regular straight time hourly rate of pay. Such payment shall be limited to two (2) Committee representatives per meeting.

  • Professional Meetings Employees should be encouraged to and may, with the approval of the supervisor, attend professional meetings, conferences, and activities. Subject to the availability of funds, the employee's expenses in connection with such meetings, conferences, or activities shall be reimbursed in accordance with the applicable provisions of State law and university rules.

Such leaves are granted to increase an employee's value to the University through enhanced opportunities for professional renewal, educational travel, study, formal education, research, writing, or other experience of professional value, not as a reward for service.

  • School Board Any reference to School Board or District in this Agreement shall mean the District and/or its designated officials.

  • Advisory Board (a) The Managing Member may establish an Advisory Board comprised of members of the Managing Members expert network and external advisors. The Advisory Board will be available to provide guidance to the Managing Member on the strategy and progress of the Company. Additionally, the Advisory Board may: (i) be consulted with by the Managing Member in connection with the acquisition and disposal of a Series Asset, (ii) conduct an annual review of the Company’s acquisition policy, (iii) provide guidance with respect to, material conflicts arising or that are reasonably likely to arise with the Managing Member, on the one hand, and the Company, a Series or the Economic Members, on the other hand, or the Company or a Series, on the one hand, and another Series, on the other hand, (iv) approve any material transaction between the Company or a Series and the Managing Member or any of its Affiliates, another Series or an Economic Member (other than the purchase of interests in such Series), (v) provide guidance with respect to fees, expenses, assets, revenues and availability of funds for distribution with respect to each Series on an annual basis and (vi) approve any service providers appointed by the Managing Member in respect of the Series Assets. (b) If the Advisory Board determines that any member of the Advisory Boards interests conflict to a material extent with the interests of a Series or the Company as a whole, such member of the Advisory Board shall be excluded from participating in any discussion of the matters to which that conflict relates and shall not participate in the provision of guidance to the Managing Member in respect of such matters, unless a majority of the other members of the Advisory Board determines otherwise. (c) The members of the Advisory Board shall not be entitled to compensation by the Company or any Series in connection with their role as members of the Advisory Board (including compensation for attendance at meetings of the Advisory Board), provided, however, the Company or any applicable Series shall reimburse a member of the Advisory Board for any out of pocket expenses or Operating Expenses actually incurred by it or any of its Affiliates on behalf of the Company or a Series when acting upon the Managing Members instructions or pursuant to a written agreement between the Company or a Series and such member of the Advisory Board or its Affiliates. (d) The members of the Advisory Board shall not be deemed managers or other persons with duties to the Company or any Series (under Sections 18-1101 or 18-1104 of the Delaware Act or under any other applicable law or in equity) and shall have no fiduciary duty to the Company or any Series. The Managing Member shall be entitled to rely upon, and shall be fully protected in relying upon, reports and information of the Advisory Board to the extent the Managing Member reasonably believes that such matters are within the professional or expert competence of the members of the Advisory Board, and shall be protected under Section 18-406 of the Delaware Act in relying thereon.

  • LABOR MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE Section 1. In order to facilitate communication between labor and management, a Labor Management Committee consisting of the Department Head and/or his designated alternate, the Assistant Chief of Police and two (2) Team Managers, and three (3) representatives of the Lincoln Police Union, along with at least one (1) Team Representative, will make up the Labor Management Committee. The Department Head will designate management personnel and the Union shall select Union representatives. Members will serve at the pleasure of the Department Head or Union President, depending upon who the member represents. Members will serve and be replaced on a staggered system (approximately three (3) year limit) depending upon the schedule agreed upon by the Department Head and the Union President. Section 2. Each Team area will be represented by a member of any rank to serve as spokesperson for that area. They will meet at least one week prior to the monthly Labor Management Committee meeting to formulate the common areas of interest and to elect a spokesperson to present the items in writing to the Labor Management Committee. Payment for attending this meeting will be at the discretion of the Department Head. Spokesperson will be chosen on a rotating basis. Team representatives will be picked by a vote of the Team members that they are representing. Section 3. The Labor Management Committee may discuss any area of the Department, with limitation only on those areas already under agreement between the City and the Union. The agenda will be based on the problem areas brought to the attention of the Committee by the Team Representatives and on any area representative members of Labor Management feel need to be discussed. Topics for discussion will be posted on the Union bulletin board and disseminated to Labor Management Committee members at least one (1) week prior to the monthly meeting. Section 4. Membership is subject to change through attrition and elected office, however, a one (1) week notice must be given to the Committee to afford the new member(s) voting privileges. Section 5. Realizing that communication is the key element to the smooth operation of any organization, the Labor Management Committee will xxxxxx an element of cooperation and unity of organizational members, be they labor or management. Section 6. Meetings shall be held at least once per calendar month. Additional meetings may be scheduled by mutual agreement of the Committee and the Department Head. Section 7.
