District Teachers. Current teachers of the District who are selected for employment by the Network are eligible for a one-year leave of absence from their employment with the District and may be eligible for two additional one-year leaves of absence upon mutual agreement between the teacher and the District. The status of any teacher in the District employed by the Network will not be affected by such employment; however, the period of time a teacher is employed by the Network will not be considered for purposes of calculating District employment time, District salary, or probationary time, or for similar purposes.

District Teachers. Current School District teachers may apply for openings at Academy of Advanced Learning in competition with other applicants 9.10.1 Teacher Leave of Absence From School District. During the first year that a teacher employed by the School District is employed by Academy of Advanced Learning, such teacher shall be considered to be on a one-year leave of absence from the School District. This leave of absence must be applied for and approved by March 15 preceding the school year in which the teacher is first employed at the charter in order to be effective for the following school year. Such leave of absence shall commence on the first day of services for the charter school. The leave of absence will expire at the end of one year and, unless the following "Notice and Renewal" procedure is followed, the School District will automatically schedule the teacher for return to the District to a position for which the teacher possesses the appropriate qualifications and certification. It is understood and agreed that the experience of an employee at the charter school does not count toward the achievement of non-probationary status under Colorado law. It is also understood that while employed by the charter, the teacher shall be paid an amount agreed to by the charter and the teacher, and not necessarily the amount the teacher would have been paid had the teacher remained in the teacher's previous position.

The status of any teacher in the District employed by the School will not be affected by such employment; however, the teacher will not be eligible to move vertically on the District’s salary schedule. Upon returning to employment of the District, teachers in good standing will be provided a position with the District, although not necessarily in the same position or facility as he or she previously held subject, however, to all applicable District employment, compensation and personnel policies.

District Teachers. The provisions of this Section 9.10 shall apply only to those teachers currently employed by the School District at Horizons. Horizons’ teachers shall not accrue years of service toward non-probationary status in the School District. Former School District teachers who have been employed at Horizons and who have received a leave of absence will no longer be considered employees of the School District for any purpose other than the protections under the Colorado Governmental Immunity Act. In the event the charter is revoked during the term, those teachers currently assigned at Horizons who are then in good standing, may apply for open teaching positions for which they are qualified within the School District. While they are not assured of selection, if selected by the School District, such teacher shall be placed on the salary schedule in a way that gives credit for their prior teaching experience at Horizons, including the term as a charter school. 9.10.1 The School District shall have no obligation for career longevity stipends for any current or former Horizons’ teacher. 9.10.2 Horizons’ employees will not be eligible to participate in the School District’s sick leave bank. Horizons may establish its own sick leave bank.

Such leaves shall commence on the day following the last day of service to the District required under the teacher’s current contract and shall end on the first day of the teacher’s provision of services upon the teacher’s return to the District. Leave for teachers will not be approved to commence prior to the completion of services by the teacher under the teacher’s current contract with the District. A request for return to the District during the term of the leave may be granted by the District at its sole discretion. The status of any teacher in the District employed by the School and on an approved leave from the District shall not be affected by such employment; however, the teacher will not be eligible to move vertically on the District’s salary schedule. A probationary teacher shall not acquire nonprobationary status in the District or accrue credit toward nonprobationary status with the District based on employment with the School while on approved leave. The period of time during which a teacher is on approved leave for employment with the School shall not be credited as continuous service. Upon returning to the employment of the District from an approved leave, the School teachers in good standing will be provided a position with the District, although not necessarily the same position as they previously held. A probationary teacher whose contract with the District is nonrenewed prior to the commencement of services to the School will not be provided a position in the District upon completion of employment with the School.

  • Student Teachers A. The term "student teacher" as used hereinafter shall refer to student teachers, intern teachers and all other such programs. Agreement to become a supervising teacher of a student teacher shall be strictly voluntary and is recognized not to result in such bargaining unit members becoming supervisors within the meaning of the Public Employment Relations Act (PERA). Probationary teachers are prohibited from accepting student teachers. B. It is expressly agreed that the Association may refuse to permit a bargaining unit member from supervising or directing the activities of a student teacher in the event: 1. The student teacher would displace instructional aides, para- professionals, or other current employees then employed. 2. The use of such student teacher would be used by the Employer as a basis for not hiring additional bargaining unit personnel. C. The Board shall disclose all terms of any agreement between it and any student placing institution. The terms and conditions of placement of student teachers shall be consistent with this agreement, unless otherwise agreed to by the Association. D. The supervising teacher shall have the right to accept an honorarium or other such token of appreciation as may be offered by the student/intern placing institution. E. Prior to acceptance of a student teacher, there shall be a meeting between the teacher, prospective student teacher, principal, president of the Association or an executive committee member of the Association. Following this interview, the teacher shall then have the right to accept or reject the student teacher. F. Any terms or conditions of this section not previously specified in this agreement shall be negotiated between the Board and the Association prior to implementation of future programs.

  • Teacher The term, “teacher,” shall mean all persons in the appropriate unit employed by the School District in a position for which the person must be licensed by the State of Minnesota, but shall not include superintendent, assistant superintendent, principals and assistant principals who devote more than 50% of their time to administrative or supervisory duties, confidential employees, and such other employees excluded or included by law.
