Northern Travel Allowance. 31.01 An employee who is not on unpaid leave and who is a Northern Resident shall be paid a Northern Travel Allowance. "Northern Resident" means an employee who makes his/her home in, and who normally resides in, the Northwest Territories or Nunavut.

Northern Travel Allowance. 35.01 All employees, except casual employees, shall be paid a Northern Travel Allowance, to assist employees with travel expenses. This allowance shall be based upon an annual amount, and shall be divided by 2080 for employees whose normal hours of work are eight (8) per day; and by 1950 for employees whose normal hours of work are seven and one half (7%) per day. Effective October 1, 2010, the Northern Travel Allowance shall be based on $28,000.00. 35.02 This allowance shall be paid on an hourly basis for all regular hours worked. It shall be paid bi-weekly to all employees.

Prior to April 1st of each year, the Employer will allow each employee to make an election with respect to Northern Travel Allowance, which shall be effective at the start of that fiscal year. Employees who do not make an election will not have any Northern Travel Allowance held back. An employee who elects to have either 20% or 40% of his Northern Travel Allowance held back cannot change that election except prior to the start of a subsequent fiscal year, which change shall be effective at the start of that subsequent fiscal year. An employee who has elected to have either 20% or 40% of his Northern Travel Allowance held back shall be entitled to have the total amount of Northern Travel Allowance held back paid out, once per fiscal year, in conjunction with the employee's approved vacation leave. The amount of Northern Travel Allowance held back will be paid out within seven (7) days of the Employer's approval of the employee's vacation leave under Article 21.04. The balance of an employee's Northern Travel Allowance that have been held back shall be paid out on termination of the employee's employment. The balance of an employee's Northern Travel Allowance that have been held back shall be paid out when an employee is on leave of absence without pay for longer than thirty (30) days.
Northern Travel Allowance. 30.01 All permanent full time regular employees who have at least one (1) year of service shall receive the equivalent value of two (2) adult return air fare tickets from the employee’s place of business to Timmins. The cost of the air fare shall be established on April 1st each year, and shall be credited on the employee’s service anniversary date. It shall be paid bi-weekly to all eligible employees. 46.02 All employees eligible for the Northern Travel Allowance shall have the option of having the Allowance paid out as a lump sum at the end of the fiscal year. Employees who wish to receive their Northern Travel Allowance as a lump sum must notify the Employer in writing prior to the beginning of each fiscal year.
