Teaching Year Sample Clauses
Teaching Year. A teacher who teaches not less than one hundred twenty (120) days during any given school year shall receive credit for one (1) full year of teaching.
Teaching Year. The ten (10)-month period of availability, as defined by this agreement, within a contract year.
Teaching Year. A. The calendar shall be attached hereto and be made part of this Agreement as Appendix II.
B. The work year for members of this unit shall be no more than 185 days.
C. The school calendar shall be adopted by the Board after consultation with the Association.
D. The school calendar for each ensuing school year shall be a matter of discussion between the Association and the Board.
E. The following days are for the attendance of members of the unit but not students.
1. Orientation day for new teachers preceding Labor Day.
2. Orientation day following Labor Day for entire staff.
3. Three days for professional conferences, staff development, Superintendent conferences, etc.
F. With the exception of orientation days and any Superintendent’s Conference Day, members of the bargaining unit while serving in any local school district will adhere to the calendar of that district.
Teaching Year. Except as provided below, the teacher school year shall include a maximum of one hundred eighty-three (183) workdays; according to the school calendar, NEOEA Day will be a day when school will not be in session and will not be included in the official school calendar. On days when school is closed as a result of inclement weather, lack of energy, or any other public calamity (“Calamity Days”), teachers shall not be required to report for work and, furthermore, will not be docked pay nor lose sick or other paid leave credit. Teaching Year. Except as provided below, the teacher school year shall include a maximum of one hundred eighty-three (183) workdays; according to the school calendar, NEOEA Day will be a day when school will not be in session and will not be included in the official school calendar. On days when school is closed as a result of inclement weather, lack of energy, or any other public calamity (“Calamity Days”), teachers shall not be required to report for work and, furthermore, will not be docked pay nor lose sick or other paid leave credit. Makeup days or hours shall not be scheduled if the number of Calamity Days does not exceed the student hour equivalent of five (5) school days. If the number of Calamity Days equals the student hour equivalent of six (6) school days, the Board may schedule one (1) teacher professional development day (adding to the maximum school year workdays identified above) in the following school year. If the number of Calamity Days in a school year equals the student hour equivalent of seven (7) school days, the Board may schedule two (2) teacher professional development days (adding to the maximum school year workdays identified above) in the following school year. If the number of Calamity Days in a school year exceeds the student hour equivalent of seven (7) school days, the Board may schedule make up hours or days for the hour equivalent of the eighth, tenth and twelfth Calamity Day and any day beyond the twelfth day, but shall not make up the hour equivalent of the ninth or eleventh Calamity Day. Calamity Days Teacher PD days (scheduled the following year) Student Make-up days/hours (scheduled prior to the end of current school year) Under any circumstance, notwithstanding any of the above, the Board shall schedule make up days or hours for any days or hours missed that would put students under the state minimum contact hours prescribed by law. Makeup days or hours, and professional development days if any, shall be scheduled by the Superintendent with the mutual agreement of the WEA President, or, if mutual agreement cannot be reached, all professional development days will be scheduled as adding time to the usual student day and, if necessary, teacher day until the time is made up. It is understood that the teachers shall report for the professional development or makeup days or hours identified above with no further compensation for those days or hours.
Teaching Year. The teaching year consists of the Contract Days defined in Article V, which shall not exceed 191 days in the 2021-2022, 2022-2023, 2023-2024, 2024-2025, and 2025-2026 school years. The preceding does not affect contracts of employment and supplemental contracts calling for work at times outside the teaching year or prior to or following the academic school year.
Teaching Year. (1) The teacher work year for 2012-2013 shall conform to the teacher calendar for said year, which is annexed hereto and made a part hereof, and marked "Schedule A." The said calendar can provide for one hundred eighty four (184) teacher workdays, including one (1) orientation day and one (1) conference day
(2) In the event that schools are not closed because of inclement weather or other emergencies prior to April 1, 2013, then the schools shall be closed on May 23 and 24, 2013.
B. The teacher work year for 2012-2013 shall conform to a teacher calendar for said year, the arrangements of which shall be subject to consultation between the Board and the Association prior to May 1 of the preceding school year and the calendar shall become part of this Agreement. It is understood that the said calendar shall provide for all the conditions set forth under Paragraphs A(1) and A(2) of this Section. However, in the event that schools are not closed because of inclement weather or other emergencies prior to the commencement of the spring recess in any of the school years during the term of this contract , then the Memorial Day holiday for the year shall be extended for two (2) days; and if schools are closed for said reasons on only one (1) day prior to the Memorial Day holiday shall be extended by one (1) day. In the event schools are closed due to inclement weather or other emergencies for longer than two (2) days, the District shall designate the make-up days after consultation with the Connetquot Teachers Association.
C. There shall be four (4) one-half days for students for the purpose of arranging parent-teacher conferences during the remainder of those days. The said four (4) one-half days shall be in addition to the parent-teacher conferences held on Election Day during which students shall not be in attendance. No more than two (2) one-half days in any one week and no more than two
D. During the fall semester all staff shall attend one (1) parent-teacher conference night to be scheduled by the administration.
E. There shall be a parent-student counseling night scheduled by the administration during the spring semester at which all Guidance Counselors shall be in attendance. Said Guidance Counselors shall be given compensatory time off from their regular work day assignment for such attendance.
Teaching Year. The teacher’s regular work year shall consist of one hundred eighty-four (184) days, two of which shall be designated for staff development. Prior to the first student attendance day, teachers will be provided with three (3) consecutive hours of time to work in their classrooms. During the annual inservice day, teachers may be required to attend up to three (3) consecutive hours of meetings and/or professional development with the remainder of the time to work in their classrooms or other administratively approved activities.
Teaching Year. A teaching year will be defined as that period of time from the opening of school in September to the closing of school in June of the next calendar year as stated in the school calendar. A teaching year is ten (10) months. The work year for ten (10) month employees is that period of time established by the Board of Education in the annual school calendar. The working year for ten-month Transportation and Food Service Workers may, or may not, include half-school days, testing days and professional development days. This provision will take effect at the time it is adopted by the employee organizations representing teaching and administrative employees.
Teaching Year. The work year will consist of up to 182 work days. The District may schedule two of these days as Superintendent’s Conference Days the Wednesday/Thursday prior to Labor Day, one district driven and one teacher driven. If only one Superintendent’s Conference Day is scheduled before Labor Day, it must be teacher driven. This will be planned at calendar adoption. At the discretion of the Superintendent, Superintendent’s Conference Days can be scheduled at other times during the school year. BTA input will be sought in the planning of conference days scheduled by the District. In the event that there is an increase in the number of mandated student attendance days beyond 180 days, the District shall have the option to either:
(1) replace conference days with student attendance days at no additional cost; or (2) increase the work year. In the event there is an increase in the work year beyond 182 days, then unit members shall be paid their per diem rate for each day beyond 182 days.
