Procedure for Filling Shifts. All regular and casual employees shall be called in order of seniority. Employees shall provide the Employer with one telephone number that the Employer shall use for the purposes of filling shifts. The call-in log shall be the Comvida electronic scheduling management system. In the event of a dispute, the Employer shall provide the Union with a print out of the call-in log covering the relevant dates. Call Order
Procedure for Filling Shifts. (a) The Employer shall consider seniority, the equal sharing of available work, and the necessity for on-the-job orientation of new employees in the calling of casual employees. Casual employee assignments will be offered to casual employees so as to maintain their relative standing on the seniority list.

Block shift absences of more than five day, and up to 60 days, for reasons such as, but not limited to, the following: illness, vacation, injury, union business, or a combination thereof. Block shifts shall be offered on a full block basis first to regular employees on the block shift list. If a regular employee accepts the block, the shifts of that employee will go to the casual list. Employees shall provide the Employer with up to two contact numbers in order to be called for shifts. The call-in book shall record the following: • employee called; • name of person making the call; • shift left vacant; • date and time of call; • date and time of shift vacated; and • response to call (e.g. shift declined, no answer, shift accepted). In the event of a dispute, the Union shall have access to the log books. A casual employee who accepts a shift is deemed responsible for that shift. If an accepted shift is cancelled more than three times within one calendar year, without exceptional circumstances, the casual employee will lose all seniority hours and be placed at the bottom of the call-in list. The Employer will call out the vacant shifts as a block first and if no part-time or casual employee is available to accept the whole block the call out will be repeated and employees can select any of the shifts in the block. Block is defined as the number of shifts that are vacant due to a regular employee being absent from the workplace. This could be 1 shift up to two (2) calendar months of absence.   • ARTICLE GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE The parties to this Agreement are agreed that it is of the utmost importance to adjust complaints and grievances as quickly as possible.
