Relief Shifts. Relief shifts shall be defined as:
8.6.1 Any workweek schedule which includes multiple shifts with a maximum of three (3) day shifts.
8.6.2 Any workweek schedule which includes multiple starting times of more than two (2) hours difference within the starting times listed in paragraph 8.1 above.
8.6.3 The provisions of Article 8.5 do not apply to employees who are part-time.
Relief Shifts. When additional shifts become available after a shift schedule has been posted, (“Relief Shifts”) such relief shifts will be offered to part-time employees first in order of seniority on a rotational basis and if no part- time employee is available, then to casual employees on a rotational basis.
Relief Shifts. When relief shifts become available (after a shift schedule has been posted) such relief shifts will be assigned as equitably as possible to Part-Time Employees and Casual Employees.
Relief Shifts. No penalty payment under this section shall arise from employees working relief shifts if the starting times for the shifts worked by the employee varies by two (2) hours or less during the workweek. In any relief shift, it is intended that the relief employee will normally have a minimum of sixteen (16) hours off duty between scheduled shifts or fourteen (14) hours for employees working a 4-10. An employee working a relief shift works other employees' assignments and shall not be permanently assigned as a relief employee. The "extra day" on a relief shift shall have hours of work identical to one of the shifts of the employees whom the employee has relieved during the week. A relief shift under this section shall not create a penalty under the definition of work day in Section 14.4
Relief Shifts. A relief shift is an operator pool providing personnel to fill vacancies that may occur from time to time on the scheduled established operating shifts. Relief operators work an assigned schedule when not filling in for someone else, and shall be entitled to a 30-minute non-paid lunch break. Relief shifts may be established at the various plants as determined by Management. When a relief operator is assigned to fill an operator vacancy he will work the hours assigned and may receive a paid meal break.

8.5.3 The provisions of Article 8.5 do not apply to employees who are part-time.
8.6 The shift premiums provided for in 8.2 above shall not apply when on vacation, sick leave or any other paid leave of absence. The shift premiums of 8.2 shall be paid to any employee working full overtime shifts; however, such premiums shall be used in computing the overtime rate, as required by Federal Law.
Relief Shifts. (a) Employees wishing to be assigned relief shifts shall declare their availability in advance.
(b) Relief shifts shall be offered to the employee with the most bargaining unit seniority who is either a Night Counsellor, Counsellor Aide, or Caseworker, provided that overtime does not result and provided that employees are not as a result working in excess of twelve (12) hours in a twenty-four (24) hour period (excluding inactive/asleep hours).
(c) Where a Relief Counsellor has not worked in any twelve (12) month period, he or she shall be notified in writing by the Employer and required to attend without pay an orientation program (2 hours per residence) within thirty (30) calendar days. Where the employee fails to attend such orientation program unless for reasonable cause, he or she shall be deemed to have resigned their employment.
Relief Shifts. Relief shifts shall be bid separately in 1) Ramp; 2) Provisioning; 3) Operations; and 4) Air Freight. Relief Agents bids shall be designated as A.M. or P.M. shifts.
A. M. Relief Agents will be used only to cover A.M. shifts. P.M. Relief Agents will be used only to cover P.M. shifts.
Relief Shifts. Relief shifts shall be bid separately in 1) Ramp; 2) Provisioning; and 3) Operations (including Air Freight). Schedules for Relief Agents in the Operations classification may include assignments in Operations and/or Air Freight, and Operations Relief Agents may be used in Air Freight. For bidding purposes only, Relief Agents bids shall be designated as A.M. or P.M. preference. To the extent such assignments are available, the Company shall recognize such preference.
Relief Shifts.
(1) Full time or Part time employees may volunteer for Relief Shifts.
(2) An employee who performs a Relief Shift will be paid the applicable hourly rates prescribed by Appendix 2
(3) Relief Shifts do not accrue leave entitlements.
