Professional Growth Requirements. A. The Board believes that continued study is a prerequisite for continued professional growth to teachers and, therefore, encourages the participation of teachers in in-service and other training programs, including college coursework. All costs including mileage shall be borne by the employer if the training is required by the Board. Such agreement shall be reduced to writing.
Professional Growth Requirements. 645 Professional Growth increments will be awarded per Union Contracts 646 or in accordance with District policy for Confidential/Management 647 Employees. Professional Growth Increments may be earned by 648 completing 9 units of work in junior college, University or State 649 College, and Adult Education (including seminars and workshops). 650 Effective July 1, 1998, Professional Growth Increments will be paid at 651 $250 per increment paid in a lump sum on November 30. All CSEA 652 unit members shall be eligible to participate in the Professional 653 Growth program.

A professional growth requirement in District 211 is the securing of at least six (6) hours of acceptable credit toward a master’s degree in the period of employment prior to tenure consideration. This applies to both experienced and beginning teachers after signing a contract in District 211. Failure to comply results in a loss of tenure contract.
Professional Growth Requirements. 21.2.1 College credits obtained from accredited four-year institutions of higher learning will be accepted for purposes of salary schedule placement.
21.2.2 Salary schedule placement credit will be given for college or university classes which are directly related to the unit member’s major, minor, current or anticipated assignment, that are successfully completed under the following conditions:
21.2.2.1 regular summer school;
21.2.2.2 correspondence classes with the prior approval of the Superintendent and Principal or designee;
21.2.2.3 extension classes with the prior approval of the Superintendent and Principal or designee;

Professional Growth Requirements. Increments can be earned to a maximum of six (6) 9-unit increments for a total 1430 of fifty-four (54) units.
Professional Growth Requirements. 22.1.1. This Article applies only to those unit members who, as of September 1, 1985, did not hold a clear multiple or single subject teaching credential.
22.1.2. Those unit members to whom this Article applies shall develop an individual program of professional growth which consists of a minimum of one hundred and fifty (150) clock hours of participation in activities which contribute to competence performance, or effectiveness in the profession of education. This program is to be completed within a five- (5-) year period. The five- (5-) year period begins September 1, 1985, or on the date that a credential takes effect after September 1, 1985.
22.1.3. Each unit member who obtains a clear credential after September 1, 1985, shall develop a professional growth plan which pertains to one (1) or more of the following:
22.1.3.1. A subject the unit member teaches, or reasonably expects to teach, in kindergarten or in grades one (1) through twelve (12). Professional growth activities that lead to additional credentials and authorizations are allowed and encouraged.
22.1.3.2. A field of specialization in which the unit member serves or reasonably expects to serve, in kindergarten or in grades one (1) through twelve (12). Examples of fields of specialization include, but are not limited to, bilingual education, cross-cultural education, and special education.
22.1.3.3. Concepts, principles and methods of effective teaching, curriculum, and evaluation in kindergarten or in grades one (1) through twelve (12).
22.1.3.4. Concepts and principles of physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development among children and youth.
22.1.3.5. Concepts and principles of human communication, learning, motivation, and individuality.
22.1.3.6. Language and cultural backgrounds of groups of children and youth who attend California schools.
22.1.3.7. Concepts and principles of effective relationships among schools, families, and communities.
22.1.3.8. Roles, organization, and operation of public education and of institutions that promote public education.

Teachers and counselors who were hired into that role prior to the 2024-2025 school year must secure at least six (6) hours of acceptable credit toward a master's degree in the period of employment prior to tenure consideration. 2. Teachers and counselors who were hired into that role beginning on or after the 2024-2025 school year must complete six credit hours of in-district courses within the first three years of their employment. The credit hours from these courses will count toward their Master’s
