Reemployment Preference. 7.3.1 For the purposes of this article, part-time faculty term load is considered to fall within one of three ranges.
1. Less than 34% load 2. Between 34% and 50% load, inclusive
Reemployment Preference. If, at the time of original assignment, there is a 7 reduction in the number of hours available to a currently employed temporary, part- 8 time faculty member, then, within the faculty member's department or subject area, 9 hours shall be reassigned to temporary, part-time faculty according to their seniority 10 provided the following requirements are met:
Reemployment Preference. 14.3.1 Unit Members laid off for lack of work or lack of funds are eligible for reemployment for a period of thirty-nine (39) months and shall be re-employed in preference to new applicants. In addition, such laid off Unit Members have the right to participate in promotional exams within the District during the 39 month period.
14.3.2 Unit Members who take voluntary demotions or voluntary reductions in hours in lieu of layoff or to remain in their present position rather than be reclassified or reassigned, shall be granted the same rights as persons laid off and shall retain eligibility to be considered for reemployment for an additional period of up to twenty-four (24) months.
14.3.2.1 Unit Members who take voluntary demotions or voluntary reductions in hours in lieu of layoff shall be, at the option of the Unit Member, returned to a position in his/her former group or to a position with increased hours as vacancies become available.
14.3.3 The District will consult with the Association to determine an appropriate timeline for the acceptance or rejection of re-employment opportunities subsequent to
Reemployment Preference. Service credit in a department or program shall be earned for each semester in which a part-time faculty member is employed. Part-time faculty first employed on or after June 1, 1997, shall have reemployment preference within the college after earning eight (8) semesters of service credit in a particular course and receiving satisfactory evaluations in at least the seventh (7th) or eighth (8th) semester taught for each course. For part-time faculty hired on or after June 1, 1997; 1) service credit is not earned during intersessions or summer, and 2) reemployment preference does not apply when making assignments for intersessions and summer. A part-time faculty member with reemployment preference in a particular course at a college shall be offered one assignment before any part-time faculty member with less reemployment preference. A part-time faculty member whose class is cancelled does not have the right to displace any other faculty member from an assignment.
11.3.1. If, during any particular semester, there are more part-time faculty members with reemployment preference in a course than there are available assignments, the available assignments shall be offered to those part-time faculty members who have the highest reemployment preference.
11.3.2. If a part-time faculty member has reemployment preference in more than one course, the assignment decision shall be made by the appropriate administrator after consultation with the faculty member. If good-faith efforts to contact the faculty member prove unsuccessful, the administrator may make such assignment without prior consultation.
11.3.3. Should there be more than one part-time faculty member with the same reemployment preference, the assignment shall be made at the discretion of the department chair/coordinator and approved by the division Xxxx.
11.3.4. Nothing in this Article shall be construed to alter existing District policies and practices with respect to setting priority of extra-pay assignments for tenured and contract faculty members.
11.3.5. Subject to the provisions of 10.3., at retirement, full-time faculty shall retain service credit for all courses taught prior to retirement.
Reemployment Preference. The parties agree that an assignment process that honors the positive performance and longevity of unit members is a benefit to both the unit member and the District. The intent of this section is to provide reemployment security for unit members who meet professional standards of performance and demonstrate a continuing commitment to the educational programs of the District.
a. Assignment of Work
1. Assignments will be made in the following order: to fulltime faculty, to unit members with reemployment preference as outlined below, and then to unit members without preference. It is understood that in the event a full-time faculty member’s regular assignment is cancelled or reduced, the full-time faculty member may be assigned to replace a unit member.
2. The scheduling and assignment of work shall be at the discretion of the deans/vice president in accordance with the reemployment preference process outlined below in 7.2.
3. To facilitate the assignment process, the District will request information from unit members as to the days and times the unit member may be available to work.
Reemployment Preference. The Reemployment Preference (RP) list is a mechanism to recognize outstanding performance by part-time faculty with ongoing teaching assignments at the College. The College and DUE will complete negotiations on the process for implementation of the Reemployment Preference List by the end of the 2016-2017 Academic Year.

The Reemployment Preference (RP) list is a mechanism to recognize Part-Time Teaching Educators who have demonstrated quality teaching performance with ongoing teaching assignments at the College. Benefits to a Part-Time Teaching Educator on the RP list include: ● an opportunity to submit information concerning their teaching preferences; ● consideration for course assignments prior to any Part-Time Teaching Educators not on the RP list, provided that the College Department Chair and Part-Time Supervisor deems the Part-Time Teaching Educator qualified to teach the course, which shall be subject to Office of Vice President for Instruction and Learning’s approval; ● confirmation of course assignments, prior to a specific date; ● use of a modified schedule for administering Student Survey of Teaching forms; and ● listing of their name and title (rank) on their department’s website.

Reemployment Preference. Associate Faculty members who have reached certain thresholds as set forth below may apply for Reemployment Preference per course, "specific classes or take on specific assignments" from the District Office. The District Office will reply to the Associate Faculty member on the status of their application within 30 calendar days. A final determination will be made within 45 calendar days of submission.
