Salary Category. 1. The salary category of teachers will be as verified as the most recent evaluation of the Teachers’ Qualification Service. Verification is the responsibility of the teacher and must be provided by November 30th or within three months of the start of employment, (whichever is earlier). This deadline also applies to changes in salary category resulting from increased qualifications. The deadline shall be extended if the teacher can show that there is a delay in processing the necessary documentation.
2. Placement of each teacher upon the salary scale shall be in accordance with such qualifications and experience as hereinafter provided.
3. Teachers holding qualifications for the EB Category will be placed in Category 4.
Salary Category. [Effective September 1, 2007 Article 7, a., b., and c, will be replaced by PCA B.12. see also Letter of Understanding No.14 for Transitional Provisions.]
a. Salary category 5 certificated employees who have fifteen (15) additional units or equivalent of approved credit shall be paid on salary category 5+. All employees shall be eligible to apply provided the following conditions have been met:

i. Credits must be equivalent to standards in British Columbia's public universities.
ii. The academic standing in all courses must be equivalent to second class or better save and except one (1) course in which a pass xxxx shall be acceptable.
iii. Courses taken must be in no more than two (2) areas of study relevant to the school system, although it is agreed that some courses are applicable to many areas of study. Fifteen (15) units or equivalent of credit completed on a Master's degree program relevant to the school system shall be acceptable, irrespective of the number of areas of study.
iv. Credits which have not been used to obtain salary category 5 shall be acceptable, provided that these credits comply with the other regulations contained herein.
v. Credits must be in senior courses; i.e., courses numbered 300 or above. In exceptional cases, where it is required and used as a prerequisite, one (1) other course may be considered as set forth in Clause (c) below.
