School Commitment. HIGH QUALITY EDUCATION ● We will work to ensure that our students get the excellent education they deserve. We will neither make nor accept excuses. We will provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables children to meet the state’s student academic achievement standards. RESPECT and FAIRNESS ● We will encourage and respect every student. We will listen to students and their needs. We will not tolerate students disrespecting each other. ● We will teach and enforce Plympton School Pride values (Positive Attitude, Responsibility, Including Others, Determination, Etiquette) consistently and fairly. Decisions, including consequences, will be made in the best interest of our students. COMMUNICATION ● We will communicate regularly with families about their child’s progress. ● We will return parent phone calls and emails as soon as possible, usually within 48 hours. ● We will hold parent/guardian-teacher conferences throughout the year, and specifically on the dedicated Early Release days: ● We will provide parents/guardians with reports on their children’s progress, in the form of report cards, on the dates outlined in the Elementary School Handbook. ● We will provide an individual student report about the performance on the state assessment in at least mathematics and English language arts/reading, as provided by the state. ● We will offer parents/guardians opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, when appropriate, in accordance with WPS’ parent involvement policy. HOMEWORK and ACADEMIC SUPPORT ● We will assign quality homework to reinforce and support skills and concepts learned in class, as outlined on page 15 of the Elementary School Handbook. ● We will support students with excellent teaching during the school day.
