School Related Leave. Any employee who is a parent, guardian or grandparent having custody of one or more children in kindergarten or grades 1 through 12 or attending a licensed day care facility shall be allowed up to forty (40) hours each school year, not to exceed eight (8) hours in any calendar month of the school year, without pay, to participate in activities of the school of their child. Such employee must provide reasonable advance notice of the planned absence. The employee may be required to use accrued annual leave to cover the absence. The District may require the employee to provide documentation from the school as verification that the employee participated in school activities on a specific date and at a particular time. If both parents, guardians or grandparents having custody work for the District at the same work site, only the first parent requesting leave shall be entitled to leave under this provision.

School Related Leave. An employee shall be granted paid leave where the employee is required to be absent from his/her regular work duties when the absence is due to a subpoena which the Board or its legal representative has requested to be issued. Any witness fee that the employee receives shall be turned over to the Treasurer, less any mileage reimbursement at current IRS rate or documented parking expense related to the employee’s service as a witness.

  • Civic Leave Civic leave is provided to faculty members who are a) subpoenaed to appear before any court or other legally constituted body authorized to compel the attendance of witnesses, where the employee is not a party to the action; or b) summoned for jury duty by any court of competent jurisdiction. Faculty members required to report or serve for only part of a day for court or jury duty are obligated to return for the remainder of that day unless otherwise authorized by the Chair. Faculty members are required to provide written notification of civic leave to the Chair as far in advance of the leave as possible. Documentation regarding the leave (e.g., a copy of the summons, subpoena) shall be attached to the notification. The faculty member may retain any money received as compensation or expense reimbursement for jury duty or court attendance compelled by the summons or subpoena.

  • Sabbatical Leave The purpose of a sabbatical leave is to enhance professional development, support department/unit goals, and/or meet the instructional, service, or research priorities of the university.

  • Other Leave Granting of leave is a matter between the employees and the mill management. The Company will consider length of service and will endeavour to arrange leave of absence to suit the employee's wishes. Employees with ten or more years service will be given special consideration.

  • Child Rearing Leave 7.9.1 A permanent employee, who is the natural or adoptive parent of a child, shall be entitled to an unpaid leave of absence for the purpose of rearing his/her child for a specified period immediately after convalescence from maternity or immediately after completion of appropriate adoption papers. Such leave shall be for a maximum period of nine (9) months and shall be granted upon giving the District at least four (4) weeks notice prior to the anticipated date on which the leave is to commence.

  • Educational Leave Leave without pay may be granted for educational leave for the duration of actual attendance in an educational program.
