Slain Officer/Dependent Coverage. The City agrees to make six (6) months of COBRA payments on behalf of any Member who dies as a direct result of a duty-related injury. In order to receive this COBRA payment, the Member must have family or dependent insurance coverage in place.

Slain Officer/Dependent Coverage. The Village agrees to continue the current medical insurance plan of a member killed in the line of duty for the benefit of the member’s surviving spouse and dependent children at the current rate of the member's contribution rates, and as subsequently adjusted, so long as group coverage is unavailable. This coverage shall cease for the spouse when the spouse remarries and for the dependent children when they are no longer a full time student or reach the age of 26, whichever comes first. The Village agrees to pay an additional $10,000 to defray all reasonable funeral and burial expenses of any employee of the Police Department who dies in the line of duty, payable to the registered beneficiary on record with the Village.
