STAFF HEALTH AND SAFETY. The Employer and the Union shall comply with the provisions of the Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and Safer Needles in Healthcare Workplaces Act.
STAFF HEALTH AND SAFETY. The health and safety of staff and their families must be ensured at all times, including when commuting between accommodation facilities and places of work. The Private Party must implement a staff medical plan that complies with current Legislation. The Private Party also must have an emergency medical evacuation policy that covers both guests and staff in the event of a serious injury or acute medical emergency. Relevant staff must be trained in and aware of this policy. All buildings, vehicles, machinery and other structures (including their operation) must comply with relevant South African Legislation and SANParks standards. The design, layout and operation of all Facilities must take cognisance of dangerous animals that occur at all the Facilities.
STAFF HEALTH AND SAFETY. Should your health ever appear to be a hazard to others or to interfere with the discharge of your responsibilities, the superintendent may require an additional medical examination. Such examinations will be made at no cost to you provided the services of a Board-designated physician are used. If you are aware of an unsafe condition or unsafe act, it should be reported immediately to a supervisor for action. The supervisor will respond in five working days and will follow up until a final decision or correction is made. Each employee should know her/his own limitations in doing certain types of functions, such as lifting, driving, carrying, etc. No job function should be performed that is beyond the employee’s ability. If there is a possibility of injury, assistance should be requested.

STAFF HEALTH AND SAFETY. 18.1 The Employer shall make reasonable provisions in respect of the safety and health of Nurses during their hours of employment. To this end, a Workplace Safety and Health Committee shall be established in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
18.2 Nurses appointed by the Union to attend the above Committees or to any other sub-committee to which the Union is required to appoint a representative will be compensated at his or her regular rate of pay, including overtime, if applicable.
18.3 Nurses required to wear personal protective equipment in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act for the Province of Nova Scotia, shall have such personal protective gear provided by the Employer. The Employer shall pay each Nurse who goes on mobile clinics, and is required to load and unload, a boot and glove allowance of seventy dollars ($70.00) every year on the first pay in October. Probationary employees shall receive this amount upon successful completion of the probationary period. Nurses who terminate employment may be required to reimburse the Employer for this amount on a pro-rata basis.

All buildings, vehicles, machinery and other structures (including their operation) must comply with relevant South African legislation and standards. The design, construction and layout of facilities must take cognisance of dangerous animals that occur at all the Management Areas.
STAFF HEALTH AND SAFETY.
(a) The Employer shall make reasonable provisions in respect to the health and safety of Nurses during their hours of employment. Protective devices and other equipment deemed necessary by the Employer to protect Nurses from injury or health hazards shall be provided by the Employer and Nurses shall be required to use them. The Union and the Employer shall co-operate to the fullest extent possible towards the prevention of accidents and in reasonable promotion of health and safety of Nurses through the Occupational Health and Safety Committee. The Employer recognizes the importance of preventing and rectifying abusive situations in the workplace.
(b) The Employer shall provide security measures at the Home during the evening, night and weekend shifts. No Nurse shall be assigned to work without another LPN or PCW present in the Work Site.
(c) No form of abuse of a Nurse will be condoned and any reasonable effort will be made to rectify an abusive situation.
STAFF HEALTH AND SAFETY. Employees required by the Hospital to have medical tests, etc. shall have their expenses borne by the Hospital. The results of medical tests, etc. or any other information on a nurse shall be handled in strict confidentiality. The Hospital shall make reasonable provisions for the safety and health of nurses during their hours of employment. Protective devices and other equipment deemed necessary to protect the nurses from injury shall be supplied by the Hospital. It i s mutually agreed that both the Hospital and the Union shall cooperate to the fullest extent possible toward the prevention of accidents and i n reasonable promotion of safety and health.
