TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT TO A HIGHER. CLASSIFICATION Temporary assignment out of class shall mean assignment to an out of class position which is temporarily vacant due to termination, resignation, leave of absence, or initial creation. In the event an employee is directed by management personnel to engage in work having substantially similar duties and responsibilities as those of another permanent position (classification) with a higher maximum salary (out of class work), that employee shall receive at least a step increase in pay during the period he is so engaged in that activity, provided the following is accomplished:
TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT TO A HIGHER. Paid Position in Class Series Employees who are directed by Management to temporarily perform the duties of a higher paid position in the class series shall be placed on the lowest step rate, within the appropriate salary range, which would result in a salary increase of at least five percent (5%), effective the first day those duties were performed. Such assignment shall not exceed six months and there shall be no change in the employee’s anniversary date. Employees assigned under this provision shall neither serve nor complete probation, and seniority will not be accrued in the class so occupied. Notwithstanding Section 4.902(a)(3) of the Los Angeles Administrative Code, the employee shall be returned to the same step in the pay range of the class in which she/he was legally employed prior to the temporary assignment. Step advances consistent with the employee’s anniversary date, which shall remain unchanged, shall apply. This provision does not in any way alter or affect the granting of craft 1-5 Day Special Emergency appointments or craft “lead pay”.

TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT TO A HIGHER. Job Classification in the Bargaining Unit. When the Hospital assigns an employee temporarily to a higher job classification for one hour or more such employee will be paid for actual hours worked in the temporary assignment at the appropriate rate of pay for the higher paid job classification.

TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT TO A HIGHER. PAID POSITION An employee assigned to work in a higher paid position for one (1) day or longer shall be compensated in the equivalent range of the higher position.
TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT TO A HIGHER. CLASSIFICATION Temporary assignments are made at the discretion of the Employer in order to ensure the orderly performance and continuity of services. The temporary assignment must be authorized in advance by the Department Head/Elected Official and Human Resources when an employee will be functioning in a higher classification due to the absence of the higher classified employee, in excess of three (3) continuous working days. A regular employee temporarily assigned to a higher classification for a period in excess of three (3) continuous working days will receive the minimum rate of the higher classification or one (1) step added to their current salary, whichever is greater. The employee temporarily assigned must have the current ability to do the available work and meet the minimum qualifications of the higher classification.
