Sick Leave Compensation. If, at the end of the last payroll period of any calendar year, an employee has a balance of more than one thousand two hundred and eighty five (1285) hours of accrued but unused sick leave, the hours in excess of one thousand two hundred eighty five (1285) will be converted into a cash payment. Each employee who has accumulated more than one thousand two hundred eighty five (1285) hours will be paid a sum equal to one hour worked, at the employee's regular straight time rate, for every three (3) hours accumulated in excess of one thousand two hundred eighty five (1285) hours. Upon retirement, an employee's sick leave balance will be converted into cash payment. Each employee will be paid according to the following schedule:
A. For accumulated sick leave hours one (1) through three hundred fifty seven (357), the employee will be paid a sum equal to one (1) hour worked, at the employee's regular straight time rate, for every four (4) hours of accumulated sick leave.
B. For accumulated sick leave hours three hundred fifty eight (358) through seven hundred fourteen (714), the employee will be paid a sum equal to one (1) hour worked, at the employee's regular straight time rate, for every three (3) hours of accumulated sick leave.
C. For accumulated sick leave hours seven hundred fifteen (715) through one thousand seventy one (1071), the employee will be paid a sum equal to one (1) hour worked, at the employee's regular straight time rate, for every two (2) hours of accumulated sick leave.
D. For accumulated sick leave hours in excess of one thousand seventy one (1071), the employee will be paid a sum equal to one (1) hour worked, at the employee's regular straight time rate, for every one (1) hour of accumulated sick leave. Upon an employee being granted a permanent and total disability from OPERS, that employee is eligible to receive a cash payment for unused sick leave hours according to the following schedule:
A. For accumulated sick leave hours one (1) through three hundred fifty seven (357), the employee will be paid a sum equal to one (1) hour worked, at the employee's regular straight time rate, for every one (1) hour of accumulated sick leave.
B. For accumulated sick leave hours three hundred fifty eight (358) through seven hundred fourteen (714), the employee will be paid a sum equal to one (1) hour worked, at the employee's regular straight time rate, for every three (3) hours of accumulated sick leave.

Sick Leave Compensation. Unused sick leave shall not be compensated for in any way at the time of termination of employment.
Sick Leave Compensation. An employee receiving sick leave benefits shall be paid the equivalent of straight‐time earnings. Sick leave compensation shall be paid in no less than one (1) hour increments.
Sick Leave Compensation. A. In order to receive compensation while on sick leave, the employee shall notify:
1. The immediate supervisors, or;
2. The department head, or;
3. In the event of the unavailability of either, the senior department representative available.
B. Notification shall be made prior to or not later than the beginning of the work day/shift in the employee's respective department. If the need for paid sick leave is unforeseeable, the employee shall provide notice of the need for the leave as soon as practicable. Compensation is contingent upon approval from the appropriate department director.
C. The department head may waive the above requirements, if in his/her opinion, an emergency or other exceptional circumstance so warrants. Computation of sick leave shall not include regular days off or holidays, provided these are not in conflict with the established schedule within each department.

If the doctor was eligible for retirement at the time of death, the beneficiary shall have the right to waive the cash payment and instead receive credit toward retirement in accordance with Chapter 2.84 of the Sacramento County Code. The retirement beneficiary, if any, shall be the beneficiary entitled to receive cash payment of accrued sick leave.
b. The doctor who retires shall be paid the monetary value of one-half of accrued sick leave at the time of retirement up to a maximum of four hundred (400) hours pay. Payment shall be made as soon as practical after the Retirement Board has approved the amount of the doctor's retirement allowance. Remaining sick leave shall be counted as credit toward retirement in accordance with Chapter 2.84 of the Sacramento County Code. The doctor shall retain the option of waiving the sick leave payoff and instead applying all accrued sick leave toward retirement credit. Sick leave payoff shall apply only to persons who actually retire from County service. Persons who separate from County service without retiring shall lose all right to sick leave payoff, whether or not such person receives a deferred retirement.
Sick Leave Compensation. An Employee that is absent from a scheduled shift on sick leave shall only be entitled to sick leave if they are not receiving pay for that day and providing that they have sufficient sick leave entitlement.

Sick Leave Compensation. Eligible employees shall be compensated for sick leave at their regular rate of pay for the hours they would have been scheduled to work. Such payment shall include applicable shift differentials provided that the employee has worked the shift for at least six (6) consecutive months or has been on a regular shift rotation basis.
