The W. E.A. and the Board agree that all certified staff should engage in ongoing professional development, unrelated to any LC or licensure/certification requirements unless requested by the employee. Employees, as part of their job responsibilities should devote time to inside and outside District professional meetings as part of their ongoing professional development. Active participation will constitute evidence of motivation and dedication to the job as an employee. In-service meetings shall be held during the course of the school year at the Board’s discretion. However, the observation of Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxx Xxx and Presidents’ Day will be viewed as holidays, with all schools closed.

Any Association member who is pink slipped may appeal when he/she believes that a lower seniority employee is being retained through gerrymandering of schedules. The W. E.A. represents to the employer that an internal rebate procedure has been established in accordance with Section 4117.09 of the Ohio Revised Code and the procedure for challenging the amount of the representation fee has been established and will be given to each member of the bargaining unit who does not join the W.E.A. and that such procedure and notice shall be in compliance with all applicable State and Federal laws and the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Ohio.
The W. T.A., which is a professional association, has received recognition as the bargaining agent for the "Instruction Unit", that is, all classroom teachers and others on the teacher's salary schedule who do not have the responsibility of rating the performance of teachers. Therefore, it is expected that the W.T.A. will govern its activities by the following conditions:
1.1 Long distance phone calls made on behalf of the Association are at the expense of the Association.
1.2 Postage used for Association purposes is at the expense of the Association.
1.3 A record of the amount of material used by the Association will be reported to the designated official in the District Business Office promptly (within two working days). The Association will be billed annually for such material.
1.4 Attendance at any conference or meeting of the NYSUT, AFT, NEA or any other association or group with which the W.T.A. may have relationships or associations other than those conferences covered by Section 4.1 of Article VI occurring during school time will be based on:
a. Written request to and subsequent approval by the immediate Building Principal and Superintendent of Schools at least ten (10) days prior to such meeting;
b. A substitute teacher suitable to the principal must be found for the days the teacher is absent;
The W. E.A. on behalf of itself and the OEA and XXX agrees to indemnify the Board of any cost or liability incurred as a result of the implementation and enforcement of this provision, including payroll deduction, provided that:
The W. P.S.C. Course Director and Quality Assurance Officer will maintain an overview of the measures taken and both officers will report to the Senior Management Group at least twice a term.
The W. P.A. and each individual employee agree that they will not direct, instigate, participate in, encourage, or support any strike or withholding of services against the employer by any employee or group of employees.
The W. P.A. may use one bulletin board already available in each building for W.P.A. business affecting employees in the unit. Any material deemed inappropriate may be removed by the employer.
