Beside the strong involvement in VLBI observations FESG is active in precise GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) applications, including precise orbit modelling, Satellite Laser Ranging, and Earth rotation studies using the worldwide largest laser gyroscope in Wettzell. The FESG is embedded in the Forschungsgruppe Satellitengeodaesie (FGS), a consortium of five leading geodetic institutions in Germany. This group participates in WP5, where they will contribute to the automation of the caching at the telescopes. Xx.
