Use of accrued vacation time. Each year, an employee may use accrued vacation time to take time off, for additional pay during December, or to carry forward to the next year. The following rules apply: Section 3.1 After the first year of employment, an employee can use vacation for time off as soon as the vacation time has been earned. Section 3.2 The employee must use at least 75% of his/her annual vacation accrual for time off. Example: an employee who earns 16 vacation days per year (10.67 hours per month) must take at least twelve (12) days of vacation time off during the year. Section 3.3 The employee may choose to cash out up to 25% of his/her annual vacation accrual. The pay will be included in the first paycheck in December. Section 3.4 Vacation time that is not used for time off or cashed out will carry forward to the next year. Section 3.5 An employee cannot accumulate at any time more vacation time than one and one-half times his/her annual vacation accrual. Example: an employee who earns 16 vacation days per year (10.67 hours per month) may accumulate up to twenty four (24) days of vacation. Section 3.6 If an employee has the maximum amount of vacation accumulated, no more vacation time is earned until the employee has used or cashed out some of the accumulated vacation time.

Use of accrued vacation time. Subject to the provisions of this Article, Bargaining Unit employees who are eligible to take a vacation may take any or all vacation hours with the approval of their supervisor. Supervisors will consider, approve, and deny requests based on factors, determined by the District, which are based upon the operational needs of the District and the availability of substitutes, when applicable.

  • Prime Time Vacation Period Subject to the provisions of this article, it is the intent of the parties that no employee will be restricted in the time of year they choose to take their vacation.
