Four (4) chips (without legs) from one-eighth (1/8) inch not to exceed three sixteenth (3/16) inch are non-chargeable providing no more than two (2) chips reside in the driver's side wiper area. c. Chips (without legs) one-eighth (1/8) inch or less located within one (1) inch inbound from the "Frit Band" (windshield outer perimeter darkened area) are non-chargeable. d. General Motors will not accept glass that has been repaired. Only OEM glass is acceptable (see Exhibit H: GM Windshield Glass Manufacturers.) e. Damaged windshields may be replaced under the terms of the MET program.

Windshield. We will repair a chip or crack (less than 6 inches in length or diameter) to the fullest extent possible, should the windshield become chipped or cracked, subject to the Exclusions‐What is Not Covered section in this Limited Warranty. Proof of a completed comprehensive insurance claim or receipt of the windshield replacement is required for reimbursement. Windshield. Any scratch, Pitted, chips or scratches less than one inch in length but which are in the critical area of the driver’s vision or which will not pass safety inspection are considered abnormal wear and tear.
Windshield. The windshield shall permit an operator's field of view as referenced in SAE Recommended Practice J1050. The vertically upward view shall be a minimum of 15°, measured above the horizontal and including any shaded band. The vertically downward view shall permit detection of an object 3 ½ feet high no more than 2 feet in front of the Trolley. The horizontal view shall be a minimum of 90° above the line of sight. Any binocular obscuration due to a center divider may be ignored when determining the 90° requirement, provided that the divider does not exceed a 3° angle in the operator's field of view. Windshield pillars, center or A, shall not exceed 10° of binocular obscuration. The windshield shall be designed and installed to minimize external glare as well as reflections from inside the Trolley. When operated at night with the passenger interior lighting on, essentially no reflections shall be visible in the windshield immediately forward of the operator's barrier. Reflections in the remainder of the windshield shall be minimized, and no reflection of any part of the interior behind the operator's barrier shall be visible in the windshield. The windshield glazing material shall have a 6-mm nominal thickness laminated safety glass conforming to the requirements of ANSI Z26.1 Test Grouping 1A and the Recommended Practices defined in SAE J673. The glazing material shall have single density tint. The upper portion of the windshield above the operator's field of view shall have a dark, shaded band with a minimum luminous transmittance of 6% when tested in accordance to ASTM D- 1003.
