(a) Time lost by an employee as a result of absence or lateness due to storm conditions or because of the condition of public streets and highways or because an employee finds it necessary to seek permission to leave prior to the end of the regular shift must be:

(a) Time lost by an employee as a result of absence or lateness due to storm conditions or because of the condition of public streets and highways or because an employee finds it necessary to seek permission to leave prior to the end of the regular shift must be: made up by the employee at a time agreed upon between the employee and the employee’s immediate supervisor; or charged to the employee’s accumulated vacation, accumulated holiday time, or accumulated overtime; or otherwise deemed to be leave without pay. Notwithstanding reasonable lateness beyond the beginning of an employee’s regular shift starting time shall not be subject to the provisions of Article or where the lateness is justified by the employee being able to establish to the satisfaction of the immediate management supervisor that every reasonable effort has been made by the employee to arrive at her work station at the scheduled time. No discrimination is to be practised in the administration of this Article resulting from individual or personal situations, place of residence, family responsibilities, transportation problems, car pools, etc. Prepaid Leave Permanent employees will be entitled to take a leave of absence financed through a salary deferral arrangement in accordance with the provisions of the Prepaid Leave Plan set out in Article of this Agreement.

Leave for Storms or Hazardous Conditions. (a) If the Employer determines that the agency will be closed for a pending storm or hazardous weather conditions, the employees shall suffer no loss of pay or benefits. Where possible, employees are expected to prepare to work from home.

(a) It is the responsibility of the employee to make every reasonable effort to arrive at their work location as scheduled, however, during storm conditions, when such arrival is impossible, or delayed, all absent time will be deemed to be leave, and the employee has the option to: (i) take the absent time as unpaid; or (ii) deduct the absent time from accumulated overtime, holiday time or vacation; or (iii) when the employee has no entitlement to accumulated paid leave, the employee may, with prior approval of the Employer, make up the absent time as the scheduling allows. (b) Employees assigned to provide services which require travel shall not be required to perform such assignments during hazardous travelling conditions and shall report to their facility for reassignment.

(a) It is the responsibility of the employee to make every reasonable effort to arrive at their work location as scheduled, however, during storm conditions, when such arrival is impossible, or delayed, all absent time will be deemed to be leave, and the employee has the option to: (i) take the absent time as unpaid; or (ii) deduct the absent time from accumulated overtime, holiday time or vacation; or (iii) when the employee has no entitlement to accumulated paid leave, the employee may, with prior approval of the Employer, make up the absent time as the scheduling allows. (b) Employees assigned to provide services which require travel shall not be required to perform such assignments during hazardous travelling conditions and shall report to their facility for reassignment. (c) Notwithstanding 24.09 (a), reasonable lateness of not more than two (2) hours beyond the beginning of an employee’s regular shift starting time shall not be subject to the provisions of Article 29.09(a), (i), (ii) or (iii), where the lateness is justified by the employee being able to establish to the satisfaction of the employer that every reasonable effort has been made by the employee to arrive at her work station at the scheduled time. The employee shall make every reasonable effort to inform his/her manager as soon as possible with respect to any expected lateness.
Leave for Storms or Hazardous Conditions. (a) The parties agree that in the event of storm or hazardous conditions, employees shall be expected to make every reasonable effort to report to work.
