Accrued Leave. 1. A teacher, for each one hundred twenty-five (125) days of accumulated but unused sick leave, as of the start of the school year, shall be granted one (1) additional day of bonus leave during that school year with pay. Such leave may be taken without restrictions, except as set forth herein, upon a written request to the Superintendent. This request must be submitted to the Superintendent at least three (3) working days prior to the requested leave date. Upon receipt of the request for the leave, the Superintendent will determine if a substitute is available. If a substitute is not available, the request for this leave will be denied.
2. This leave may not be taken on either the first or the last day of the teacher or student work year, or on a parent/teacher conference day. No more than three (3) teachers may use this leave at any one time. Should more than three (3) teachers request the use of this leave, the date the request was received by the Superintendent, and then, if necessary, District seniority will be used to determine which individuals will be granted leave.
3. Any unused accrued days shall be converted to sick leave.
4. Use of accrued days each year does not forfeit accrued days the next year for the same days of accumulated sick leave.
Accrued Leave. When eligible and authorized, employees may use their accrued personal leave for any reason.
Accrued Leave. 8.18.1 The existing methods of converting vacation and sick leave for extended duty weeks shall continue. CTO conversion will continue using existing methods.
8.18.2 For purposes of computing whether overtime is owing, all paid leave taken during the normal duty week will be considered hours worked.
Accrued Leave. 1. Unused annual and sick days, up to a maximum of ten (10) days, will be converted to accrued days at the end of each school year.
2. Teachers may use their accrued leave days for illness, disability, or death of the teacher’s or spouses immediate family. Immediate family includes mother, father, brothers, sisters, spouse, natural born children, adopted children, grandparents, immediate stepchildren, and grandchildren.
3. A teacher is limited to no more than eighty (80) accrued days at any time.
4. At the end of each school year, annual and sick leave days that cannot be converted to accrued days will be purchased by the District at a rate of $50.00 per day. At the end of the current school year, only a maximum of eighty (80) days shall remain. Teachers who retire from this school District, and who file for PERA Retirement Benefits within thirty (30) days of termination of employment with Re-5J, with no intervening employment shall be paid at a rate of $75.00 per day, as an acknowledgment of their attendance.
5. A full one-day deduction will be made from the annual/sick leave allowance for an absence of more than one-half (1/2) day. A deduction of one-half (1/2) day will be made from the annual/sick leave allowance for an absence on one-half (1/2) day or less. Accrued Leave. Employee hereby waives and releases the Company from any obligation to compensate Employee for vacation or leave that has accrued prior to the date hereof or that accrues after the date hereof. Notwithstanding anything in the Agreement or any Company policy to the contrary, Employee’s vacation and other leave shall be on a “use it or lose it” basis. Reimbursement for expenses incurred by the Employee in the course of his employment shall not be waived, but shall be paid by the Company.
