Assignment Change. An assignment change is a change of an employee's assignment within the same classification, same department, and same shift, and shall not require a new probationary period. This procedure shall occur before a vacancy is posted or when no vacancy has been created, but it is necessary to reassign an employee. Temporary employees shall not be reassigned into permanent positions.
A. Notify the department Union Xxxxxxx in writing that a vacancy has occurred;
B. Consider applicants for the vacant assignment who have expressed interest in reassignment;
C. Reassign the employee with the most classification seniority who expressed an interest in the reassignment and who has the ability to do the job. Assignment changes may be initiated by the Employer, however, such changes shall not be arbitrary or capricious.
Assignment Change. 28.1 When either school administration or an employee desires a change in assignment, the party desiring such a change must notify the other in writing. If the transfer of assignment is at the request of the administration, then those teachers with five (5) years or less seniority may be transferred without regard to seniority. When teachers with more than five (5) year's seniority are involved then the least senior may be transferred first. When the transfer request is at the request of the teacher, the decision will be based on sound educational reasons.
28.2 Teachers transferred to another building at the request of the administration in Article 28.1 will be given two (2) days of non-school time with per diem pay to make the move.
28.3 No more than three percent (3%) of the staff may be transferred after August 1st.
28.4 Transfers, assignments or re-assignments within the school building will be excluded from this article except that all transfers will be for sound educational reasons and the person being transferred will be so notified in writing.
28.5 When enrollments necessitate the closing of a school, the administration will meet with the teachers involved to discuss the options available to them. A timeline and procedures (including procedures for the appropriate distribution of materials and equipment) will be developed as far in advance as possible. The administration will attempt to make placements that are compatible with the teachers' areas of strength, experience and preference.
28.6 Any teacher transferring into another teaching certification against his/her will shall be entitled to:
A. Written reasons for the transfer.
B. The right to a hearing before the Superintendent within ten (10) school days of the notice of the transfer.
X. A program with material and guidance to assist the teacher in his/her new area of certification.

Assignment Change. Any assignment change made without a bargaining unit member’s consent will be considered a reassignment and subject to the provisions of that article in this contract. Prior to June 1, each affected bargaining unit member will be notified in writing by the building principal that they are being recommended for reassignment to another building.

17.2.1 The District recognizes a reduction in force requires a reduction in service. Refer to Article 19. When a reorganization or a reduction in force occurs within a department, the supervisor and worker shall meet to identify tasks and clarify individual responsibilities and priorities. The discussion shall lead to a prioritizing of duties and a summary of workload distribution.
17.2.2 When a worker feels he/she has been assigned more work than can be accomplished within the worker's work day/week, the worker will initiate a meeting with the supervisor to review time allocations, priorities and tasks, and then re-establish priorities.
17.2.3 If the supervisor does not meet with the worker to prioritize the assigned work, it is understood that a worker may file a grievance under Article 17.2.1 and/or 17.2.2 and is entitled to WVMCEA representation throughout this entire process.
Assignment Change. In the event there is a change in grade assignments in the elementary or changes in subject assignment in the secondary, the principal will notify and discuss the matter with the affected employee. Changes will be voluntary to the extent possible. Assignments shall be made prior to the last day of school, except in emergency, and will be discussed in advance at a conference with the applicable department chairperson if he/she is available. The employee shall immediately be informed in writing of any changes necessitated after this time. Such "emergency" assignment changes may be effected due to changes in student enrollments, loss of revenues, closing and/or consolidation of buildings or classes, a change in educational programs or unanticipated personnel changes.
