Assignment Change. An assignment change is a change of an employee's assignment within the same classification, same department, and same shift, and shall not require a new probationary period. This procedure shall occur before a vacancy is posted or when no vacancy has been created, but it is necessary to reassign an employee. Temporary employees shall not be reassigned into permanent positions. Employees shall inform the Supervisor in advance of the job posting, in writing, of their desire to be considered for another assignment. Such notice must be received prior to formal posting of the vacancy by Human Resources in order to be considered for reassignment. The assignment change requests will remain in effect for a one (1) year period. The Employer shall inform employees at the time of initial hire of the assignment change procedure. The Employer shall post on the work area bulletin boards where they exist, or on department bulletin board where there are no work area boards, the assignment change procedure which follows: When an employee leaves an assignment for any reason, and the Employer determines to fill the vacated assignment, the Employer shall do the following:
Assignment Change. 28.1 When either school administration or an employee desires a change in assignment, the party desiring such a change must notify the other in writing. If the transfer of assignment is at the request of the administration, then those teachers with five (5) years or less seniority may be transferred without regard to seniority. When teachers with more than five (5) year's seniority are involved then the least senior may be transferred first. When the transfer request is at the request of the teacher, the decision will be based on sound educational reasons.

Changes will be voluntary to the extent possible. Assignments shall be made prior to the last day of school, except in emergency, and will be discussed in advance at a conference with the applicable department chairperson if he/she is available. The employee shall immediately be informed in writing of any changes necessitated after this time. Such "emergency" assignment changes may be effected due to changes in student enrollments, loss of revenues, closing and/or consolidation of buildings or classes, a change in educational programs or unanticipated personnel changes.
