The second step will be imposed when the employee exceeds two days absence in a subsequent quarter or exceeds six days in the school year. The second step will be a suspension of two days without pay. The third step will be imposed when the employee exceeds two days absence for a third quarter or exceeds ten days in a school year while the plan is in effect. The third step will be a ten-day suspension without pay. The fourth step will be imposed if the employee exceeds two days in a fourth quarter or exceeds fifteen days in a school year. The fourth step will be Superintendent review of a recommendation for discharge. An employee on an Attendance Improvement Plan will not be granted any extended unpaid leave except those that are required to be granted by law or the Agreement. The employee’s attendance will be reviewed at the end of the year. If the employee has received any disciplinary action pertaining to attendance during the year the plan will continue for the next school year. If the employee goes on an approved extended leave (in excess of five days) as required by law or the Agreement, the plan will be extended for a duration equal to said extended leave. Once an employee has completed an attendance improvement plan the employee will be expected to maintain good attendance. Should an employee meet criteria to be placed on an attendance improvement plan a second time the plan will begin with the second step (two days suspension without pay) and progress from there.
