Christmas / New Year’s Schedule. If possible and scheduling permits, employees may receive either Christmas or New Year’s off, unless otherwise agreed. Normally, Christmas one year and New Year’s the next. In order to accommodate this, it is understood that the Christmas and New Year’s schedule may be reasonably amended from the normal schedule. (a) The Employer will post a vacation planner on February 1 and employees shall indicate their vacation preference by March 15th of each year. The Employer shall post the final vacation schedule by April 15th of each year. Choice of vacation period shall be based on seniority but shall be determined by the Employer having due regard to the proper operation of the Home. Such requests shall not be unreasonably denied. Vacation requests made after the posting of the vacation schedule shall be determined by the Employer having due regard to the proper operation of the Home on a first come first serve basis, not on the basis of seniority. The Employer will endeavour to respond to the employee’s request within two (2) weeks. (b) Vacation may be taken at any time during the vacation year, except between December 15th and January 15th (requests for this period may be granted depending on the operating needs of the Home).
Christmas / New Year’s Schedule. Each employee is presumed available for both Christmas Day and New Years’ Day. Shift coverage for the two (2) statutory holidays will be by zone, not program. On or before October 1st, the Employer will electronically send a request for each employee to indicate their preference to work either or both days. An employee who does not indicate a preference will be presumed available for both days. If more employees are available to work than required for either day, the Employer will attempt to give the more senior employee that day off, subject to program needs. If all program needs can be met, the senior employees may have one or both days off. The Employer will then prepare the Christmas Day-New Year’s Day schedule and will endeavor to consider employee seniority and the employee’s preference as indicated on the blank sheet. This schedule will be posted by November 1st. After November 1st, Authorized Absence requests/Shift Switch requests will be considered by the Employer until November 8th. No requests will be accepted after this date.
Christmas / New Year’s Schedule. Employees shall have either Christmas Day or New Year’s Day off, whenever possible. It is the intent and spirit of both parties to try to accommodate vacation schedules during the Christmas period whenever possible.
