Community Language Allowance. (1) An employee who possesses a level of language skills or qualifications mentioned in this clause is entitled to be paid community language allowance (CLA) at the appropriate rate set out in the table at the end of this clause if the Secretary determines there is an identifiable and continuing need to provide client or staff services in a language other than English.
(2) The employee is entitled to be paid CLA at Rate 1 if:
(a) the employee has passed the Language Aide Test conducted by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI); or
(b) the employee is recognised by NAATI as having a proficiency equivalent to that mentioned in paragraph (a); or
(c) the employee is assessed as being at a level equivalent to the level mentioned in paragraph (a) or (b) by an individual or body approved by the Secretary; or
(d) the employee is waiting to be assessed by means of an assessment mentioned in paragraph (c), and the employee’s supervisor certifies that the employee uses the language skills to meet operating requirements of the workplace.
(3) The employee is entitled to be paid CLA at Rate 2 if:
(a) the employee is accredited or recognised by NAATI at the Paraprofessional Interpreter level or above; or
(b) the employee is assessed as being at a level equivalent to that level by an individual or body approved by the Secretary. Rate 1 $1 032 $1 053 $1 064 Rate 2 $2 061 $2 102 $2 123
Community Language Allowance. 20.1.3.1. The Community Language Allowance will be paid to employees who have passed examinations conducted by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) or the Community Relations Commission and who are sought by the SOH to use their community language skills for the purposes of providing translation to people from Non English Speaking (NESB) backgrounds as an adjunct to their normal duties.
20.1.3.2. Information relating to exams is available from the Payroll Unit or by visiting the Community Relations Commission web site at xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.xx.
20.1.3.3. The Community Language Allowance will be made at the rate provided for in Schedule 3 of this Agreement and adjusted in line with movements in rates from time to time as determined by the Department of Premier and Cabinet. The Allowance will: • be paid as an allowance in the nature of salary for all purposes under the provisions of this Agreement; • be paid on a pro rata basis to part-time and casual employees; and • be paid only once regardless of the number of languages actually spoken.
20.1.3.4. Note that this allowance does not apply to Foreign Language Guides who are specifically employed for their language skills.
Community Language Allowance. 25.1 If an employee's language competence is of the relevant standard, an employee will be paid a community language allowance when: a) the employee's language skills are required for communication in languages other than English, including using Aboriginal and Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Islander and AUSLAN or other deaf communication skills; and b) there is an identifiable and continuing need in providing client or employee services.
25.2 Payments will be made in line with the employee’s skill level and in accordance with Attachment A, Schedule 4.
25.3 The allowance will be paid during periods of paid leave falling within the period the employee continues to have recognised responsibilities in the role.
25.4 The payment of the allowance will not count towards any payments for overtime.
Community Language Allowance. 36.1 If an employee's language competence is of the relevant standard, an employee may be paid a Community Language Allowance where:
a) the employee's language skills are required for communication in languages other than English, including using Aboriginal and Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Islander and AUSLAN or other deaf communication skills; and
b) there is an identifiable and continuing need in providing client or employee services.
36.2 If an employee's skill is at a level equivalent to the Language Aide Test conducted by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI), the employee will be paid an allowance of $1002 (and $1022 from 21 June 2012, $1032 from 3 January 2013, and $1053 from 20 June 2013).
36.3 If an employee's skill is at a level recognised by NAATI to be at the para-professional interpreter level, the employee will be paid an allowance of $1997 (and $2037 from 21 June 2012, $2057 from 3 January 2013, and $2098 from 20 June 2013).
36.4 The allowance will be paid during periods of paid leave falling within the period where the provisions of clause 36 apply.
Community Language Allowance. This is a new clause which references the entitlement as provided in Determination Number 6 of 2013. The clause contains a commitment to review the provisions of the Determination. The clause, like the Determination, entitles an employee to an allowance if they are directed by the CEO to use their bilingual communication skills in accordance with the Determination.
Community Language Allowance.
(a) You will be paid a community language allowance of $928 per annum paid fortnightly on a pro-rata basis when:
(i) you are accredited by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) or equivalent; and
(ii) the secretary determines each year that you use the language in the workplace on a regular and continuing basis.
(b) The community language allowance covers non-written communication, in a language other than English, including communication in the deaf oral language, the deaf sign language and Aboriginal and Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Islander languages.
(c) You only need to pass a NAATI test once and if NAATI is unable to provide testing, we may approve payment of the community language allowance, if other evidence of your language skills is provided.
(d) The cost associated with accreditation will be met by us.
Community Language Allowance. Departmental Liaison Officer Allowance, First Aid Certificate Allowance, Health and Safety Representative Allowance and Community Language Allowance are increased under the Agreement at the same rate, and at the same time, as the salary increases applying under clause 1.03 of the Agreement.
Community Language Allowance. 35.1 A community language allowance as detailed in the table below, will be paid where CSIRO determines that an officer is regularly required to use their ability to communicate in Braille or a language other than English (including Australian Indigenous languages and AUSLAN) in the course of their work, and the officer meets the required level of competency set by CSIRO.
35.2 The allowance is paid in accordance with the officer’s level of competency: 1 An officer who has adequate language skills, as determined by an individual or body approved by CSIRO for simple communication. $1,435 p.a. $1,490 p.a. $1,541 p.a. 2 An officer who is certified by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) as a Translator or Interpreter at any level; or is assessed to be at the equivalent level by an individual or body approved by CSIRO. $2,870 p.a. $2,979 p.a. $3,080 p.a.
35.3 The allowance is calculated annually and paid fortnightly.
35.4 The allowance will be increased as set out in the Table above.
35.5 The full allowance is payable regardless of flexible work and part-time arrangements.
35.6 The allowance is payable during periods of paid leave.
35.7 The allowance counts as salary for superannuation purposes and for calculating retirement and redundancy entitlements.
Community Language Allowance. A community language allowance will be paid where AMSA determines that an employee is regularly required to use their ability to communicate in Braille or a language other than English (including First Nations languages and Auslan) in the course of their work, and the employee meets the required level of competency set by AMSA. Further information is included in policy.
Community Language Allowance. 25.1 If an employee's language competence is of the relevant standard, an employee may be paid a Community Language Allowance where: the employee's language skills are required for communication in languages other than English, including using Aboriginal and Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Islander and AUSLAN or other deaf communication skills; and there is an identifiable and continuing need in providing client or employee services.
25.2 If an employee's skill is at a level equivalent to the Language Aide Test conducted by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI), the employee will be paid an allowance of $904 per annum (and $933 from the first payday after commencement of this Agreement and $963 from 8/7/2010).
25.3 If an employee's skill is at a level recognised by NAATI to be at the para-professional interpreter level, the employee will be paid an allowance of $1801 per annum (and $1860 from the first payday after commencement of this Agreement and $1920 from 8/7/2010).
25.4 The allowance will be paid during periods of paid leave falling within the period where the provisions of clause 25 apply.
