Community Language Allowance. (1) An employee who possesses a level of language skills or qualifications mentioned in this clause is entitled to be paid community language allowance (CLA) at the appropriate rate set out in the table at the end of this clause if the Secretary determines there is an identifiable and continuing need to provide client or staff services in a language other than English.

Community Language Allowance. 25.1 If an employee's language competence is of the relevant standard, an employee will be paid a community language allowance when: a) the employee's language skills are required for communication in languages other than English, including using Aboriginal and Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Islander and AUSLAN or other deaf communication skills; and b) there is an identifiable and continuing need in providing client or employee services.
Community Language Allowance. 20.1.3.1. The Community Language Allowance will be paid to employees who have passed examinations conducted by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) or the Community Relations Commission and who are sought by the SOH to use their community language skills for the purposes of providing translation to people from Non English Speaking (NESB) backgrounds as an adjunct to their normal duties.

Community Language Allowance. 42. In recognition of the customer service benefit to the community, any employee competently using a language other than English to communicate with customers, shall be paid a Community Language Allowance of $13.14 per week on a regular or irregular basis, according to the incidences when the second language is used. This Allowance remains separate from the employeesbase rate of pay, and cannot be absorbed within a salary system payment. Accreditation for the use of language skills is available from the Ethnic Affairs Commission and the University of New South Wales Institute of Languages. The cost of such accreditation will be borne by the Gallery.
