Continuation of Insurance Benefits While On Leave of Absence. Effective with the 2014-15 plan year, during a stability period in which an employee qualifies for benefits, if the employee is on an authorized leave of absence without pay or receives insufficient pay to cover their share of premium cost, the employee may continue health benefits during the stability period by paying their share of premium cost at least two (2) weeks prior to the premium due date. Specific arrangements for such coverage shall be made with the Human Resources Division. Section 2.9 will no longer be applicable.

Beginning with the health plan year 0000-00, XXX Xxxxxxx 2.9 will no longer be applicable to continuation of insurance benefits while on a leave of absence and Section 2.9.1 will apply.

Employees in this unit who are on an approved unprotected leave of absence retain eligibility for the employer-paid premium amount during the time of unprotected leave so long as they use at least forty-one (41) hours of paid time per pay period. The employee’s share of premiums shall be deducted from the employee’s paycheck, or paid directly to the County’s Benefit Office.

To maintain benefits, an employee must pay the employee contribution of the premium. Employees in this unit who are on an approved unprotected leave of absence, retain eligibility for the employer-paid premium amount during the time of unprotected leave so long as they use at least 41 hours of paid time per pay period. The employee’s share of the premiums shall be deducted from the employee’s paycheck, or must be paid directly to the County’s Benefit Office no later than the Monday of the County’s pay week.
