DDS Vacation Scheduling: Two Vacation Period Scheduling Method. A. On October 1 of each year, each unit/work location shall post a vacation calendar in a prominent place readily available to Bargaining Unit 17 (Registered Nurse) employees. For the a.m. and p.m. shifts, the calendar shall clearly indicate by unit/work location (as defined by the program management) and shift, the number of level-of-care employees that may be on vacation on each day of the upcoming year. For the NOC shift, the calendar shall indicate, by program, the number of employees that may be on vacation on each day of the upcoming year. The posted vacation time shall be sufficient to permit all employees on each shift to have a vacation sometime during year. Non-client residential programs are exempt from coverage but will be governed by terms and conditions provided under the Agreement. B. During the period of October 1 to October 31, all employees, without regard to bargaining unit classification or seniority, may sign up for no more than two (2) vacation periods for the upcoming calendar year. Each vacation period shall be for consecutive days. The two vacation periods combined shall not exceed thirty- two (32) days of vacation days scheduled off during the vacation year, and any one vacation period shall not exceed twenty-four (24) vacation days scheduled off. Each vacation period shall be separated by at least twenty-two (22) days worked. 1. Vacation requests shall not exceed the employees’ accrued vacation time balance at the time(s) the vacation(s) is taken. 2. No other accumulated/accrued time shall be authorized for the purpose of requesting vacation time off. 3. During the above period, management will not intervene to resolve conflicts in the vacation requests. C. Beginning November 1 and ending the close of November 30, those employees with overlapping vacation requests that would result in exceeding the authorized vacation posting shall be notified. These employees will be given the opportunity to modify their vacation choices through discussion and compromise among the affected employees. Where these discussions do not result in compromise and agreement among affected employees, the most senior employees’ vacation request shall prevail if the employees are in the same bargaining unit. Conflicts between employees of different bargaining units shall be resolved by lot (coin toss). The employee has the right to be present during the coin toss.   • Vacation Scheduling (a) Employees shall indicate their vacation preference by February 1st of each year, and the Employer shall post the final vacation schedule by April 1st of each year. Choice of vacation period shall be based on seniority but shall be determined by the Director of Resident Care or designate having due regard to the proper operation of the Home. Vacation requests made after the posting of the vacation schedule shall be determined by the Director of Care or designate having due regard to the proper operation of the Home on a first come first serve basis, not on seniority. (b) Vacations may be taken at any time of year, and the Employer will grant request where possible, provided that vacation quotas shall not be unduly restrictive, and vacation shall not be unreasonably withheld. The Employer will give consideration to an employee’s request for vacation between the period of December 15 and January 15, provided the employee will be fulfilling her or his commitment to work either Christmas or New Year’s. (c) Employees may request pursuant to Article 13.08 to have the weekend off prior to or following their vacation. The Employer will endeavour to schedule such request subject to the following: i) Where the weekend off is granted and the employee was otherwise scheduled to work on those days, such extra days will be deemed to be vacation days; ii) The employee must have such vacation entitlement available; and, iii) The weekend off being requested must be contiguous with (i.e. consecutive with) the employee’s original vacation. (d) Prior to leaving on vacation, an employee shall be notified of the date on which to report back for work following vacation if the posted work schedule does not cover the employees’ vacation period, if the information is known to the employer. (e) Full-time employees will be granted time off in single days or multiples thereof upon request, provided the employer agrees to that request. The maximum allotment of these days will be five (5) days.

  • Compensation for Holidays Falling Within Vacation Schedule If a paid holiday falls on or is observed during an Employee's vacation period, she shall be allowed an additional vacation day with pay at a time mutually agreed upon by the Employer and the Employee.

  • Vacation Periods Vacation schedules will be set by the employee’s immediate supervisor(s) and sent to the Office of Human Resources for approval. Employees may request a particular period for vacation. Vacation days may not be taken in advance of their accrual. Those employees who are on a 12-month teacher contract are paid during Spring Break and Winter Recess, however, are not expected to be in attendance or perform duties during those breaks.

  • Vacation Period ‌ The choice of vacation periods shall be granted to employees on the basis of seniority with the Employer except where the period requested would be detrimental to the operation of the Employer.

  • Vacation Schedule 1. Vacation periods shall be fixed by the Employer to suit the requirements of his business, but as far as possible and practicable, vacations will be given during the summer months, and for employees with school-age children, during the school vacations. Vacation periods shall be unbroken unless by mutual consent between Employer and employee, or where it is impractical. Grievances relating to this Section shall be subject to the Adjustment and Arbitration Procedure in this Agreement. 2. Time off, based upon service in the Industry Vacation Plan, may be granted to an employee by mutual agreement between the Employer and the employee. The Employer shall not be required to give time off based upon service under the Industry Vacation Plan. However, if such additional industry vacation time off is granted to an employee, such time off shall be counted as time worked for the purpose of computing the employee's earned vacation benefits on his next anniversary date of employment.

  • Scheduling Vacations Vacations are to be scheduled in advance and taken at such reasonable times as approved by the employee's department with particular regard to the needs of the Employer, seniority of employee, and, insofar as practicable, with regard to the wishes of the employee. No vacation shall be assigned by the Employer or deducted from the employee's account as disciplinary action.

  • Prime Time Vacation Period Subject to the provisions of this article, it is the intent of the parties that no employee will be restricted in the time of year they choose to take their vacation. The Employer will make every effort to allow employees to take their vacation during the period of April 15th to October 15th inclusive, which will be defined as the prime time vacation period.

  • Vacation Buy Back Employees shall have the option of requesting pay in lieu of time off up to a maximum of 144 hours of vacation time each year, during each year of the contract in increments of eight (8) hrs. Such requests are subject to the approval of the department head and the availability of funds.

  • Vacation Schedules (a) Completed vacation schedules will be posted by April 30th of each year. The schedule will be circulated commencing February 1st of the same year. (b) An employee who does not exercise her seniority rights within two (2) weeks of receiving the vacation schedule, shall not be entitled to exercise those rights in respect to any vacation time previously selected by an employee with less seniority. (c) An employee who relocates to another work location where the vacation schedule has already been completed will not be entitled to exercise her seniority rights for that year only. However, every effort shall be made to grant vacation at the time of the employee's choice.

  • Vacation Selection Employees who have not selected their vacation periods by November 15th shall not be entitled later to select vacation periods by seniority. Employees who do not select all of their vacation entitlements on the calendar shall be allowed to schedule vacation at a later date, provided that this selection does not affect the scheduled vacations of other employees.
