Entrance Salary Rates. Section 1. Original appointment to any position shall be made at the entrance rate and advancement from the entrance rate within a pay grade shall be by successive steps. If a Fire Fighter is promoted to a higher rank with a lower entrance rate than his rate prior to promotion, his pay rate shall be the lowest rate in the new position which results in at least a 3% increase unless it’s the top step.

Entrance Salary Rates. 5.1.1 Starting Rate on Initial Employment: Original appointment to any position shall be made at the rate as established by the Town Manager and advancement from entrance rate to the maximum rate with a pay range shall be by successive steps.

Original appointments into the Civil Service system from an open eligible list into entrance level positions within this Agreement shall be made at the entrance rate as Step 1, and advancement from the entrance rate to the maximum rate within a salary range shall be by successive steps.
