Immediate Family Leave. Serious illness in the immediate family, which requires an employee to be absent from duty to attend to the needs of the immediate family member, shall be charged to Sick Leave under this Article. The maximum leave under this Section shall be five (5) days. Deductions from the employee's salary shall be made in those instances where the employee does not have Sick Leave benefits available.

Immediate Family Leave. FMLA leave is available when serious illness or injury of an immediate family member requires the employee to be absent from work. Leave will be deducted from the employee’s sick leave up to 10 days. The remaining eligible leave will be unpaid. The term immediate family member and serious health condition will be defined as set forth in the FMLA. If the employee has insufficient sick leave to cover the entire length of the absence, the FMLA leave shall be without pay. If the employee is not eligible for FMLA, the employee may take up to 10 days of leave. If the employee has sick leave available, the leave will be de ducted from the employee’s sick leave; otherwise, the leave is without pay.
Immediate Family Leave. Up to ten (10) days family leave will be granted when illness or injury to an immediate family member of the employee requires his/her attention. Immediate family includes children, spouse, siblings, in-laws, or parents. Immediate family leave is available for a normal birth of a grandchild on the actual day of the birth. Time will be counted in ¼, ½, ¾, or full-time days. Leave will be deducted from employee’s sick leave to the extent this leave is available; otherwise the leave is unpaid.

For purposes of this subsection, "immediate family" means mother, stepmother, father, stepfather, husband, wife, domestic partner (upon submission of an affidavit as defined in the appendices), son, stepson, daughter, stepdaughter, brother, sister, grandparent, grandchild, xxxxxx parent, xxxxxx child, mother-in-law, and father-in-law, or any other person sharing the relationship of in loco parentis; and, when living in the household of the employee, a brother-in-law, sister-in-law. Entitlement to leave of absence under this subsection shall be only for all hours the employee would have been scheduled to work for those days granted, and shall be in addition to any other entitlement for sick leave, emergency leave, or any other leave.

  • Family Leave 1. An Appointing Authority shall grant to a full time or part time employee who has completed his/her probationary period, or if there is no such probationary period, has been employed for at least three consecutive months, an unpaid leave of absence for up to twenty-six (26) weeks in conjunction with the birth, adoption or placement of a child as long as the leave concludes within twelve (12) months following the birth or placement. The ability to take leave ceases when a xxxxxx placement ceases unless the need for additional leave is directly connected to the previous placement.

  • Family Sick Leave An employee may use Family Sick Leave for the illness of a member of the employee's immediate family who requires the care and assistance of the employee. Up to eighty (80) hours per calendar year of the employee’s accumulated unused sick leave may be used for this purpose.

  • Family Member Family member is defined as the employee’s spouse or same or opposite sex domestic partner, child, parent, grandparent, grandchild, sister, or brother. Family member also includes individuals in the following relationships with the employee’s spouse or domestic partner: child, parent and grandparent. “Child” also includes any child residing in the employee’s home through xxxxxx care, legal guardianship or custody. Family members include those persons in a “step” relationship.

  • Death in the Immediate Family The teacher may take a maximum of five (5) sick days per death at the time of the death. Immediate family shall be interpreted as mother, father, husband, wife, grandparents, grandchild, child, sister, and brother of teacher and/or his/her spouse. One (1) of these days must be the funeral day.
