Investigation and Presentation of Grievances. The Union may designate one employee as Shop Xxxxxxx. The Shop Xxxxxxx will be allowed release time, without pay, for the following activities: to present grievances to management; to attend grievance arbitration hearings; and, to attend conferences and hearings of the New York State Public Employment Relations Board. The investigation of grievances may only be conducted during non-working hours (e.g. before and after the workday, meal periods, rest periods).

In the event the Xxxxxxx needs to conduct union business off Town property, the Xxxxxxx will be allowed release time without pay. The Xxxxxxx is expected to use only a reasonable amount of time to carry out this responsibility.
