Laboratory Technician. An employee on being hired as a technician in one of the laboratories will be given the classified rate of a 2nd Class Technician. On showing satisfactory performance, an additional minimum increase of 45 cents per hour will be given after each six-month period, and the classified rate of 1st Class Technician after eighteen (18) months of em- ployment. To achieve the classification of Senior Technician the employee must be performing job functions above that of the 1st Class technician and of a developmental na- ture. This classification will be limited to one employee in each technical area. A Technical Area is each distinct laboratory where there are bargaining unit employees performing work.

Laboratory Technician. Ink Person; I I In the event of any lay off, the students shall be laid off prior to any lay off of permanent, regular full-time em- ployees. When there is a permanent position in the bargain- ing that is subject to job posting, notice of the vacancy shall be posted for six (6) consecutive work days during which employees apply. In such cases, the Company shall be guided in its decision by the following factors: a) seniority;
