Leaves of Absence: Association Business. (a) The Employer shall grant, on written request from the Association to Human Resources and to the appropriate exempt administrator, release time for Employees elected to positions with the Association. (b) Requests for leaves of absence will be made by the Association in writing to the Associate Vice President, Human Resources and the appropriate exempt administrator as soon as possible after the AGM, but no later than June 1 for Fall semester leaves and November 1 for Winter semester leaves. (c) The Employer must be satisfied that the granting of a particular request for leave would not be in conflict with or disruptive to the operation of UFV. (d) The Employer agrees that, with the exception of 3 full-time leaves, the granting of leave in excess of halftime for any one individual is subject to the University's educational requirements; approval shall not be unreasonably withheld. (e) To facilitate the operation of the Collective Agreement and employer-employee relationships, the Association is entitled to be reimbursed for a one-quarter full-time per annum release. This will be equivalent to twenty-five percent of a top of scale faculty salary. (f) Leaves of absence for employees elected to positions with the Association shall be at full replacement cost, including the cost of wages, benefit premiums, statutory holiday pay, vacation pay and payroll burdens which attend the replacement. It is understood that UFV neither makes a savings nor experiences a cost in the replacement process. (g) Where an Association leave of absence results in the posting of the resulting vacancy as a permanent position, the Association and the Employer recognize that the employee on leave will exercise bumping rights at the end of the leave. (h) An Association member selected for a full-time position in the Federation of Post-Secondary Educators or in any successor organization to FPSE shall be granted a full-time unpaid leave of absence subject to the following conditions: (i) As soon as possible in advance of the leave, the Association shall notify the Employer of the possibility of this clause being invoked. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Association shall provide the Employer with written notice by June 1 for Fall leaves and November 1 for Spring leaves; (ii) An Association member on leave under this clause shall continue to receive full salary and the benefits from the Employer, and the Association shall, on a monthly basis, reimburse the Employer for the full amoun...

Leaves of Absence: Association Business. J.1 In accordance with Article 11.02, the Centre will grant a leave of absence on the following basis: (a) To twelve (12) nurses at any one time selected or appointed by the Association to attend Association functions, provided that the number of days in total in one (1) year does not exceed one hundred and twenty (120) working days off. No more than two (2) nurses shall be granted such leave from any one (1) unit. In those areas which have less than fifteen (15) nurses, only one (1) nurse shall be granted such leave.

J.2 The Centre agrees to grant leaves of absence up to thirty (30) 7.5 hour tours or 225 hours/per year, without pay, to nurses elected to the position of Local Co-ordinator. Requests for these days off must be submitted prior to the posting of the schedule. J.3 The Bargaining Unit President will be allowed to request unpaid leaves of absence to a maximum of one-half (1/2) of her or his regularly scheduled shifts. These days will not be part of the time provided under J.1.

  • Leave of Absence for Union Business 17.1 The Board acknowledges the right of the Union to appoint or select a Negotiation Committee of not more than seven (7) employees and will recognize and deal with this Committee with respect to contract negotiations. The Union agrees to provide the names of all Committee members to the Board in writing. 17.2 The Union may have the service of a CUPE Staff Representative, counsel or adviser at any meeting with representatives of the Board during negotiations pertaining to renewal or amendment of the Collective Agreement. 17.3 Members of the Union negotiating committee shall be paid at their regular straight time rate of pay for their regularly scheduled work time spent with officials of the Board for purposes of amending or renewing the Agreement up to and including, but not beyond the stage of conciliation, provided, however, that such committee members shall not be compensated for time spent prior to or beyond their regular working hours. 17.4 Upon request, members of the Union's Negotiating Committee shall be permitted leave of absence to prepare for the commencement of formal contract negotiations with the Board. The total number of days of leave under this Article shall not exceed 28 days during the lifetime of the Agreement and no member shall be absent for more than 4 days for this purpose. The Union shall give the Board a minimum of 5 days advance notice of any such request. An employee on such leave shall continue to receive pay and benefits provided in this Agreement. The Union shall reimburse the Board for all pay and benefits for the period of absence. 17.5 Leave of absence without pay and without loss of sick leave credits or seniority shall be granted upon request to the Board to employees elected or appointed to represent the Union at recognized Union conventions or 17.6 An employee selected for up to and including a full-time position with the local shall be granted leave of absence without loss of seniority or benefits for a period of up to two years. Such leave shall be renewed each year, on request, during the term of office. An employee on such leave shall receive the pay and benefits provided in this Agreement. The Union shall reimburse the Board for all pay and benefits for the period of absence. Upon completion of the President’s leave, the employee will be returned to his/her position if it still exists, or to a comparable position, if it does not. 17.7 Any employee who is elected or selected for a full-time position with the Union, or any body with which the Union is affiliated, upon application will be granted leave of absence without salary, benefits, and loss of seniority, by the Board for a period of up to one year. Such leave shall be extended annually, upon request, up to a maximum of five years.

  • LEAVES OF ABSENCE applies for both paid and unpaid leaves. For the purposes of an unpaid 11.25 hour shift, the deduction from pay shall equate to 14.05 hours. For the purposes of an unpaid 7.5 hour shift, the deduction from pay shall equate to 9.375 hours.
