Maternity and/or Parental. Leave, relating to the birth or adoption of a child, shall be granted by the City in accordance with City Policy and consistent with existing Provincial and Federal Legislation.

Female employees who commence maternity leave and are approved for Employment Insurance are eligible for benefits under the Company's Supplemental Unemployment Benefits Plan (SUB Plan). The SUB Plan will top up EI premiums to 95% of an employee’s normal gross wage for six (6) weeks following the birth of a child. Receipt of SUB Plan benefits shall commence following the receipt of proof the employee has received Employment Insurance payments.
Maternity and/or Parental and/or Pre-Adoption Leave Allowance (a) To be entitled to the maternity, parental, benefit waiting period and/or pre-adoption leave allowances pursuant to Clauses 23.04, 23.05, 23.06 and/or 23.07, an employee must sign an agreement that the employee will return to work and remain in the Regulator's employ for a period of at least six months or equivalent to the leaves taken, whichever is longer, after returning to work. (b) Should the employee fail to return to work and remain in the employ of the Regulator for the return to work period in (a) above, the employee shall reimburse the Regulator for the maternity, parental, benefit waiting period and/or pre-adoption leave allowance received under Clauses 23.04, 23.05, 23.06 and/or 23.07 above on a pro-rata basis.
Maternity and/or Parental. Leave Allowance Repayment To be entitled to the benefit waiting period, maternity and parental leave allowances pursuant to 30.4(l), 30.4(m) and 30.4(o) an employee must sign an agreement that they will return to work and remain in the Employer's employ for a period of at least six months or equivalent to the leaves taken, to a maximum of twelve months whichever is longer, after their return to work. Should the employee fail to return to work and remain in the employ of the Employer for the return to work period, the employee shall reimburse the Employer for the benefit waiting period, maternity and parental, leave allowance received.

  • Maternity and Paternity Leave It is understood that maternity leave for female employees shall be granted with no loss of seniority for such period of time as her their doctor shall determine that she is they are physically or mentally unable to return to her their normal duties and maternity leave must comply with applicable state and federal laws. The Employer shall provide a place, other than a bathroom, that is shielded from view and free from intrusion from coworkers and the public, which may be used by an employee to express breast milk. A reasonable break time for an employee to express breast milk for such employee’s nursing child shall be considered hours worked if the employee is not completely relieved from duty during the entirety of such break. A light duty request, certified in writing by a physician, shall be granted in compliance with state or federal laws, if applicable. Light duty requests shall also be made through the Employer’s “Light Duty for Pregnant Workers” program. Paternity leave shall be granted in accordance with Section 6 of this Article with the exception of employees not able to meet the qualifications set out in Section 6, who shall be granted leave not to ex-ceed one (1) week. Notwithstanding any provision to the contrary in any Supplement, Rider, or Addenda, an employee shall be allowed to designate in any vacation year paid time off up to twenty (20) days, to be used in the next vacation year, in accordance with this paragraph. Any paid time off that is provided on a weekly basis can only be banked in weekly increments. The accrued paid time off may be used in the next vacation year to cover any period of time that (1) the employee is determined to be unable to perform her their job due to pregnancy (for the father, time off is requested due to the birth) and (2) is not covered by the FMLA, existing disability plans or other paid time off. If the accrued time off is not used in that year, it will be paid to the employee within two (2) weeks of the request. If the vacation is not used as part of the leave, and it would have originally been taken in that vacation year, the employee shall also have the option of rescheduling the unused vacation as time off in accordance with local practice.

  • Maternity and Parental Leave Employees are eligible for unpaid leave of absence from employment subject to the conditions in this article. Every employee who intends to take a leave of absence under this article will give at least four weeks' notice in writing to the Employer unless there is a valid reason why such notice cannot be given and will inform the Employer in writing of the length of leave intended to be taken. Each employee who wishes to change the effective date of approved leave will give four weeks' notice of such change unless there is a valid reason why such notice cannot be given.

  • Maternity and Adoption Leave 12.4.1 The District shall provide for a leave of absence from duty for any classified employee of the District who is required to be absent from duties because of pregnancy, miscarriage, childbirth, and recovery therefrom and adoption. The length of the leave of absence, including the date on which the leave shall commence and the date on which the employee shall resume duties, shall be determined by the employee and the employee's medical practitioner.

  • Pregnancy/Parental Leave Pregnancy/Parental Leave will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act as amended from time to time.

  • Medical Care Leave An Employee who is unable to make the necessary arrangements for maintenance of personal health care outside of scheduled work time, shall be granted time off with pay. Such time off shall not exceed sixteen (16) working hours per calendar year. Hours in excess of sixteen (16) hours per calendar year shall be deducted from the Employee's sick leave accumulation.
