MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHER WORK DAY. 8.6.1 Staff hours for the Middle School level shall be from 8 am to 3:40 pm on school days. 8.6.2 Middle School staff shall have a 30 minute duty free lunch each school day, except on days with adjusted schedules. 8.6.3 The Middle School will have a late start on one school day each week to accommodate Professional Learning Community (PLC) activities. Throughout first semester of the 2017-2018 school year, professional learning will be provided for middle school staff to set common understandings and expectations regarding PLC centered around best practices for all teachers. In addition, any teacher that is identified as a PLC leader will be required to complete a series of PLC facilitation workshops during the first semester of the 2017-2018 school year. These workshops will be held before or after school and will not exceed four total hours. Facilitators will not be compensated for this time. These meetings will be used for data analysis purposes and for grade level teachers to address the social emotional needs of students. The other monthly PLC dates will be used for building level discussions and to have district wide discussions. Agendas and meeting notes from the member lead meetings will be turned in to the building administrator. This will start second semester of 2017-18 with the understanding that some department timelines would be delayed due to the implementation of the new math scope and sequencing.
