NHS Fife Overview and Strategic Direction. STRATEGIC CONTEXT NHS Fife provides strategic leadership and direction for all NHS services in Fife. It is accountable to the public and to the Scottish Government for all elements of the NHS system in Fife. It works with partners to improve the health of local people and the services they receive and to ensure that national clinical and service standards are delivered across the NHS system. Fife has a population of 367,260, with slightly above the Scottish average for the over 65’s age group. Fife Health and Social Care Partnership (H&SCP) has identified seven localities. Lochgelly is in the Cowdenbeath Locality. Major settlements include Cowdenbeath, Lochgelly, Ballingry, Kelty and Cardenden. Fife Health & Social Care Partnership vision is to provide integrated care that crosses the boundaries between primary, community, hospital and social care, with GPs, hospitals, health workers, social workers, social care staff and others working together as one system.
