Non-standard Work Schedules a. The parties recognize that there may be occasions where either the College or the employee may desire that a non-standard work schedule be arranged for a particular employee for some length of time. A non-standard work schedule is a regular schedule that differs from the norm of that particular position. Non-standard schedules are not considered permanent. b. A supervisor may create a non-standard work schedule for employees in the department to meet department or College goals. The supervisor may set such non-standard schedules for employees in the department, taking into account department and College needs as well as employees’ personal considerations. c. Employees may propose non-standard work schedules to their supervisor. The employee must give a written proposal to her/his supervisor indicating the nature of the schedule and expected duration. The supervisor will respond in writing within fifteen (15) days of the request, with notice to the Union. Any denial of the request will include a reason for the denial, and any such denial shall not be arbitrary or capricious. The supervisor may also set a limit on the number of employees in her or his department who have a non- standard schedule. In such a case, the supervisor will meet with her or his department to discuss the impact of the limit and consider, where appropriate, rotation of non-standard schedules. d. Once a non-standard schedule has been implemented, the supervisor may adjust or cancel such schedule after due consideration for an employee’s needs or personal situation and, in such case, will provide notice to the employee(s) affected and the Union.

A Vice President may create a non-standard work schedule for Employees in a department to meet department or College goals. The Vice President may set such non-standard schedules for Employees in a department, taking into account department needs, College needs, the seniority of the Employees in the department, the recommendations of direct supervisors of Employees, and Employees’ personal consideration. Employees may refuse a non-standard schedule with reasonable explanation and propose an alternative. 3. Employees may also propose non-standard work schedules to their supervisor or manager. The Employee must give a written proposal to their supervisor or manager indicating the nature of the schedule requested and expected duration, along with the reasons for the request. The supervisor or manager will forward the request to the Vice President of the unit along with a recommendation. The Vice President will respond in writing within fifteen (15) days of the request and approve, deny or modify any such proposal. Any denial of the request will include a reason for the denial. The decision of the Vice President to approve, deny or modify a non-standard work schedule is not subject to the arbitration provisions of this Agreement. However, denial of non-standard work schedule can be grieved to step 2 of the grievance procedure. 4. Once a non-standard schedule has been implemented, the Vice President may adjust or cancel such schedule prior to the end of the specific duration, after due consideration for an Employee’s needs or personal situation and in such case, will provide notice to the Employee(s) of at least two weeks. Any adjustment to the agreed schedule will include the rationales for the adjustment.

  • Work Schedules Workweeks and work shifts of different numbers of hours may be established by the Employer in order to meet business and customer service needs, as long as the work schedules meet federal and state laws.

  • Alternative Work Schedules Employees may request alternative work schedules such as a nine (9) day - 80 hour two week schedule or a four (4) day - 40 hour week schedule. Management will respond to an employee's request within 15 calendar days. Any changes from existing work schedules will be based on the needs of the service as determined by Management. Employees covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act will not be placed on alternate work schedules that mandate the payment of overtime under the Act.

  • Alternate Work Schedules Workweeks and work shifts of different numbers of hours may be established for overtime-eligible employees by the Employer in order to meet business and customer service needs, as long as the alternate work schedules meet federal and state law. When there is a holiday, employees may be required to switch from their alternate work schedules to regular work schedules.

  • Regular Work Schedules The regular work schedule for overtime-eligible employees will not be more than forty (40) hours in a workweek, with two (2) consecutive calendar days off and starting and ending times as determined by the requirements of the position and the Employer. The Employer may adjust the regular work schedule with prior notice to the employee.

  • Alternative Work Schedule An alternate forty (40) hour work schedule (other than five (5) uniform and consecutive eight (8) hour days in a seven (7) day period), or for hospital personnel an eighty (80) hour workweek in a fourteen (14) day period and other mutually agreed upon schedules that comply with applicable federal and state law. Employee work schedules normally include two (2) consecutive days off.

  • Work Schedule (A) Where an employee has an established schedule, a change in workdays or shifts will be posted no less than 14 calendar days in advance and will reflect at least a two workweek schedule; however, the state will make a good faith effort to reflect a one month schedule. (B) In the event of a declared emergency the notice requirement of this Section may be void. (C) The state will continue to observe the scheduling structures currently in place at each agency and agrees to bargain any change in the overall practice of how schedules are established.

  • Flexible Work Schedules An employee may request a modification of their current work schedule to another schedule. The Employer, or its designees, may approve or deny flexible work schedules and retain the responsibility for determining exemptions from, or terminations of, flexible work schedules which adversely affect the operation of the Minnesota Judicial Branch or the level of service to the public.

  • Posting of Work Schedules Work schedules shall be written in ink and posted and maintained in such a way as to provide every employee an opportunity to know her shift schedule for an advanced period of six (6) weeks.

  • Notice of Work Schedules ‌ (a) Work schedules for regular employees shall be posted at least 14 days in advance of the starting day of a new schedule. (b) In the event that the work schedule or shift for a regular employee or an auxiliary employee working a scheduled shift roster is changed without 48 hours' advance notice and such change is the result of the actions of another employee covered by this agreement utilizing the benefits provided for by the provisions of this agreement, the employee will receive a premium of 85¢ per hour in addition to their regular pay, for work performed on the first shift to which they changed. (c) In the event that an employee's work schedule or shift is changed without five days advance notice and the change results from causes other than defined in (b) above, the employee shall receive a premium at the applicable overtime rate for work performed on the first shift to which they changed, except that if the change results from no fault of the Employer they shall not receive a premium at overtime rates but shall receive the premium defined under (b) above.
