Professional Learning Leave. In the interest of promoting professional 5 learning, the Board, within budget limitations, will provide certified staff 6 professional learning release days to accomplish established certified staff 7 professional learning objectives. 8 9 Certified staff who desire to be excused from their regular teaching assignment 10 for the purpose of attending conferences, workshops, seminars, and/or to 11 observe other instructional techniques and programs, must submit a request for 12 absence at least five (5) days in advance containing a description of the program 13 and the benefits of attending. 14 15 When school is dismissed for local, regional or state certified staff association 16 meetings, certified staff who do not belong to those organizations or do not plan 17 to attend the meetings will report for duty to their regularly assigned buildings 18 on days these meetings are held. 19

Professional Learning Leave. Professional leave of up to two (2) days per year may be granted to teaching personnel for the purpose of visiting other elementary and secondary schools to observe classes, attend workshops and/or conferences that will benefit the school program at Xxxxxxx, and/or other professional learning activities approved by the administration. These days will not be charged to the employee’s personal leave or sick leave, and will not result in the loss of salary. Requests for professional learning days must be submitted to, and approved by, the administration. Additional days may be granted with the approval of the administration. Requests must be made at least seven (7) days prior to the date of requested leave. This request should include possible costs including any registration fees as well as any mileage to be reimbursed. Teachers shall be reimbursed the cost of the conference registration fee and mileage if funds are available. If funds are not available and the leave is approved, the teacher may elect to go at his/her own expense. The administration may require the staff member to provide a written and/or oral presentation to all interested parties during the same year. This request cannot exceed two (2) total hours of preparation & presentation time and would not qualify for additional compensation.
Professional Learning Leave. 32.1 An Employee will be granted leave with pay to attend a compulsory examination or to complete a major assessment task (comprising 40 per cent or more of the total subject assessment) in a relevant course of study approved by the Principal.

  • Professional Leaves 1. Professional Leaves are to be used by an employee to gain knowledge for the position contracted through Bath Local Schools. The employee must request Professional Leave through the employee kiosk. Upon approval, the employee may be permitted to attend the Professional Meeting and will be paid at the regular rate.

  • Educational Leave Leave without pay may be granted for educational leave for the duration of actual attendance in an educational program.

  • Training Leave An employee appointed or elected as an accredited representative of the union shall, upon application in writing to the employer, be granted up to 5 days leave with pay each calendar year (non-cumulative) to attend appropriate courses: • Such courses shall be designed and structured with the objective of promoting good industrial relations within the building and construction industry. • Consultation may take place between the parties in the furtherance of this objective Accredited representative of the union shall mean a job xxxxxxx recognised by the employer. No. of days per year Up to l5 1 5 31-50 3 15 51-100 4 20 101 and over 5 25 The application for leave shall be given to the employer at least 6 weeks in advance of the commencement of the course. The application shall contain the following details: • The name of the employee seeking leave • The period of time for which the leave is sought (including dates and daily commencing and finishing times) and • The title, general description and structure of the course to be attended and the location of where the course is to be conducted. The employer shall advise the union within seven clear working days (Monday to Friday) of receiving the application as to whether or not the application for leave has been approved. The time of taking leave shall be arranged so as to minimise any adverse effect on the employer’s operations. The onus shall rest with the employer to demonstrate an inability to grant leave when an eligible employee is otherwise entitled. An employer shall not be liable for any additional expenses associated with an employee’s attendance at a course, other than the payment of ordinary time earnings for such absence. For the purposes of this clause ordinary time earnings shall be defined as the relevant award classification rate, shift work loadings plus over-award payments. Leave rights granted in accordance with this clause will not result in additional payment for alternative time off to the extent that the course coincides with an employee’s day off in the 19 day month work cycle. An employee on request by their employer shall provide proof of their attendance at any course within 7 days. If an employee fails to provide such proof the employer may deduct any amount already paid for attendance from the week’s pay or any monies due to the employee. Where an employee is sick during a period when leave under this provision has been granted proof of attendance at the course is not required for that period and the employee shall receive payment in accordance with personal leave provisions. Leave of absence granted in accordance with this clause shall count for all purposes of employment.

  • Organizational Leave The Board of Education will provide for leaves of absence without pay to elected officers or appointed representatives of Local No. 284. Employees acting as business agent must take an unpaid leave of absence from their position.

  • Extended Medical Leave A teacher who is unable to teach because of personal illness or disability and who has exhausted all available sick leave shall be granted leave for up to one (1) year. Any request for this leave must state the probable date of return and be accompanied by a verifying physician's statement. If the leave was granted as a result of a work related injury the employee may request and shall be granted a one (1) year extension of this leave. Before returning, such teacher must submit a physician's release. To be eligible for an extended medical leave of absence, an employee must have been actively employed on paid status with APS a minimum of one contract year immediately prior to the leave start date. All intermittent medical leaves will be addressed according to FMLA regulations.

  • Fair Employment Practices and Americans with Disabilities Act Party agrees to comply with the requirement of Title 21V.S.A. Chapter 5, Subchapter 6, relating to fair employment practices, to the full extent applicable. Party shall also ensure, to the full extent required by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as amended, that qualified individuals with disabilities receive equitable access to the services, programs, and activities provided by the Party under this Agreement. Party further agrees to include this provision in all subcontracts.

  • Educational Leave of Absence Leaves of absence may be granted up to six (6) months under the above provisions only if the course would be beneficial to both the University and the employee.
