Property Loss. PSU is not responsible for loss or damage to personal property in University Housing due to fire, theft, pests, water, interruption of water or heat or other utility services, damages caused by other Residents, or other causes. Residents are strongly encouraged to carry personal property insurance (commonly referred to as “renters insurance”) and to remove any valuable items from their Space during break periods. Any claims regarding property loss or injury will be referred to PSU Risk Management (xxx.xxx.xxx/xxxx).

Property Loss. Storage of personal property by Tenant shall be at Tenant’s risk and Landlord shall not be responsible for any loss or damage. Tenant shall be responsible to insure Tenant’s personal property against loss or damage. Landlord shall not be responsible or any damage to Tenant’s property, unless such damage is caused by Landlord’s gross negligence or willful misconduct.

The University shall not be liable for theft, destruction, damage, loss of money, valuables, and/or other personal property belonging to or in the custody of the student for any cause whatsoever, whether such loss occurs in the student’s room or residence hall. Students are responsible and liable for insuring personal belongings, including losses due to fire, smoke, water, theft, or vandalism. USD shall not be held responsible for any loss or damage to personal belongings, and does not provide any insurance coverage for student’s benefit.

In the event a payment is made under this policy, the Employer will, to the extent of such payment, be subrogated to any right of the employee to cover compensation for such damaged property. The Employer will be entitled to enforce its subrogation rights in any court of competent jurisdiction. c. The amount of reimbursement to the employee by the Employer shall be limited to the actual cost of repair or replacement, not to exceed $500.00 per incident. Reimbursement of loss to be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Reimbursement shall be at replacement cost (not exceeding actual cost) less any insurance or workers’ compensation reimbursement. Reimbursement shall not be made for losses of less than Five Dollars ($5.00) or that portion in excess of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) and shall not be made when carelessness or negligence on the part of the employee was evident. Employees shall cooperate and support the District in its investigation and resolution of any reported loss. The District will provide assistance in attempting to investigate and/or reclaim other stolen or damaged property including automobiles. Employees shall not be required to transport students. However, if an employee’s supervisor has requested the employee to transport students, and the employee chooses to do so, the District will reimburse the employee for damages done by students to the automobile up to a maximum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00). The District may require verification of damage(s) and cost of repair. The District shall provide, on a fully paid basis, bodily injury, liability and property damage insurance coverage, to the limits carried by the District for the use of automobiles owned, leased or hired by a unit member while in the normal course of their duties as an employee of the District. This coverage shall apply only as excess insurance over and above other valid and collectible liability insurance carried by the unit member. The District may require as condition to this coverage that before the vehicle is used on District business, the unit member provide a license of insurance showing that they have at least the minimum amount of insurance required to license a vehicle in the State of Oregon. The District will reimburse the unit member for any deductible cost the unit member is required to pay, as a result of an on- duty accident, not to exceed Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00). Property Loss. The Board shall assume liability for the value of personal property destroyed, lost, or damaged on their property as a result of an accident, vandalism, or theft under the following circumstances: a. The property was brought to work to be used as an adjunct to employment activities. b. Advanced permission to bring the equipment to work must be obtained in writing from the appropriate administrator. c. A recent appraisal indicating the value of the item along with accurate serial numbers and description must be filed with the administrator in advance. d. Such coverage shall not apply if the negligence of the employee contributed to the loss.
Property Loss. The student shall be responsible for the security of his or her own property. The university is not responsible for any damage to the unit or personal effects as a result of theft, vandalism, fire or maintenance failure. The university strongly recommends that students obtain insurance coverage of all personal belongings. The student agrees that any personal effects, valuables or other property of the student left in the facility after the student vacates/checks out of the facility shall be abandoned property and will be removed by the university. The student may be billed for the removal and/or storage of the property. This property may be disposed of through sales, donation, or in such a manner as the university, at its sole discretion, may determine.
