Remission. The College shall continue to provide tuition remission for those employees and their dependent children enrolled in a class and using tuition remission at the time that they receive notice of layoff until the end of the semester that the layoff occurs.
Remission. The parties agree to continue in effect the present policy of the Board, acting through the Commissioner, regarding tuition remission applicable to all unit members, their spouses, and their dependent children. 8.3 Total remission as set out in clauses 8.1 and 8.2 cannot exceed 10% in any one year.

Remission. To facilitate the College’s ability to plan workloads the following arrangements will apply. Academic union representatives
a) Paid time off for academic trades union representatives shall be allocated on the basis of 36 hours remission from teaching per year per 40 members or part thereof, e.g. 1 to 40 members = 36 hours remission 41 to 80 members = 72 hours remission 81 to 120 members = 108 hours remission 121 to 160 members = 144 hours remission
b) The distribution of the total annual hours remission amongst branch officers shall be at the discretion of the branch. Each representative will have a multiple of 36 hours remission, up to a maximum of 72 hours i.e. 36 or 72 hours remission. Remission hours will be spread evenly throughout the academic year. c) Time off will be broadly equivalent to the remission from teaching granted to the academic trade unions, and will be notionally expressed in terms of paid time off per week, on the basis of one hour per week per 40 members, or part thereof.
d) Time will be calculated as an average entitlement and will be monitored by line managers over a period of time, not on a weekly basis, as it is recognised that there may be “peaks and troughs” in the time of necessary to support the membership.
e) Remission and time off is subject to the following conditions: By the 31st July each year each union shall provide to the HR Manager the number of members employed by York College it has at that date. This shall form the basis for the remission time (in the case of the academic trades unions) and time off (for Business Support and Management Trades unions) calculated for the following year By the 31st July each year each union shall provide to the HR Manager the names of its officers who shall receive remission or time off for Union Duties and the names of the representatives attending the JCNC for the subsequent academic year. By the 31st July each year each union will confirm the names of the representatives who will receive remission from teaching the following year. Remission. (1) The First Nation hereby delegates to Canada the authority to remit any amount paid or payable under this Act as if it were paid or payable under Part IX of the Excise Tax Act.
(2) Subsection (1) applies to any amount that is paid or becomes payable while an administration agreement is in effect and to any amount that becomes payable after an administration agreement has ceased to be in effect but which relates to an amount that became payable while such an administration agreement was in effect.
(1) Where section 12 does not apply, the Executive Council, in its discretion, may remit any amount paid or payable under this Act where the Executive Council considers that the collection or the enforcement of the payment of the amount is:
(a) unreasonable;
(b) unjust; or
(c) otherwise not in the interest of the First Nation; or
(d) would cause great public inconvenience or great hardship.
(2) A remission granted pursuant to this section may be total or partial, conditional or unconditional.
(3) A remission granted pursuant to this section may be granted before, during or after any proceeding for the recovery of the amount, and either before or after payment of it has been made or has been enforced by process or execution.
(4) Where a remission is granted pursuant to this section subject to a condition and the condition is not fulfilled, the amount may be enforced, or all proceedings may be had, as if there had been no remission.
(5) No tax on any goods shall be remitted by reason only that after the payment of the tax the goods were lost or destroyed.
(6) A conditional remission, on fulfilment of the condition, and an unconditional remission have effect as if the remission were made after the amount in respect of which it was granted had been sued for and recovered.
(7) Where a penalty imposed by this Act has been wholly and unconditionally remitted pursuant to this section, the remission has the effect of a pardon for the offence for which the penalty was incurred, and thereafter the offence has no legal effect prejudicial to the person to whom the remission was granted.
Remission. The third and fourth paragraphs of Article 130 are applicable to the constitutional referendum.
