Tuition Waiver. The following tuition waiver provisions shall be of application during the term of this Agreement. The spouse and/or child or children, including any such adopted or stepchild or children, of any present, former, retired or deceased member of the bargaining unit represented by the Massachusetts Teachers Association/NEA, who, after the date of execution of this Agreement, shall have been admitted as a student in the regular day program, or in any program of Continuing Education, at any Massachusetts State University, shall be entitled to enroll as a student in such program without the payment of tuition. In addition, any member of the bargaining unit who shall have been admitted as a student at any institution of public higher education in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, excluding the program for the Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, shall be entitled to matriculate as a student without the payment of any tuition; provided, however, that in the case of any course in any program of Continuing Education tuition shall be remitted in the amount of fifty percent (50%) thereof.
Tuition Waiver. Subd.
1. ASF Members shall be entitled to enrollment, on a space available basis, in courses at any Minnesota State state university without payment of tuition or fees, except laboratory fees and special course fees. Such enrollment shall not exceed twenty-seven (27) semester credit hours per fiscal year. For purposes of this section, a year begins the first day of fall semester and concludes the day before the beginning of the succeeding fall semester.
Tuition Waiver. The University shall maintain a tuition waiver program. For the purpose of this article, the term “dependent” shall mean the spouse, domestic partner and /or dependent child. For required concurrent enrollment in a laboratory course, in connection with another separate course, which is covered by a tuition waiver; the tuition waiver shall be applicable to the laboratory course. The laboratory course shall not be counted as part of the 8 hours of total waiver and shall not constitute an additional course. Modular courses which may be construed to be a single course and are offered sequentially over a single semester will count as a single course not to exceed four (4) credit hours. The program will be based on space availability for unit members. When space is available, unit members may enroll in a course(s) on a tuition waiver basis. The Program is subject to the following requirements:
A. The campus shall determine when space is available, recognizing that such determination should be made, whenever possible, in sufficient time to permit timely enrollment by participating unit members.
B. Unit members and dependents must meet any course prerequisites.
C. All fees other than tuition, except those waived by the Chief Administrative Officer of the University where enrolled, shall be paid by the participating individuals as a condition of enrollment. However, unit members shall not be charged separately identified online instruction, admission, student health or student activity fees for courses they enroll in under this program. Effective July 1, 2016 the unified fee shall be waived on all campuses for Unit members using tuition waiver benefits for themselves.
D. Minimum enrollment requirements, established by any University as a necessary condition for offering a course, shall not count unit members toward the number of students required to guarantee the offering of such course. For Summer courses which are self-supporting, dependents who are receiving half-tuition waivers shall be counted as one-half toward the minimum course enrollment.
E. This waiver does not apply to mini-courses or other non-semester or non-credit course offerings except those identified in advance by the University.
F. Participation in the tuition waiver program by unit members and dependents will be as follows:
Tuition Waiver. Tuition of credit bearing courses shall be waived for:
A. The Employee MCC System shall provide employees with a tuition waiver for any two (2) MCCS courses per semester on a space available basis. Employees will be responsible for related fees and materials. Employees shall be provided with release time during the workday or a flexible work schedule to attend one (1) MCCS course per semester upon approval of the College President or his/her designee, except if operational needs prohibit such an arrangement.
B. The spouse or significant other of the employee
C. Children and dependent children of the employee, who, at the beginning of the tuition waived course(s) are twenty-four years old or younger. Dependent child status shall be verified by federal tax return. Child status shall be verified by birth or adoption certificates whichever is appropriate. Access to such tuition waived courses for a non-matriculated child, dependent child, or spouse shall be on a space available basis. Each child, dependent child and spouse or significant other of an employee shall be eligible for tuition waivers not to exceed two (2) years of full-time course work.
Tuition Waiver. 245 - Bargaining unit members who are eligible for educational assistance shall be eligible for a tuition waiver program. This tuition waiver program will be applicable only to those MSU courses enrolled in through the University's standard registration procedure. As a condition of tuition waiver, an employee must sign an agreement authorizing payroll deduction for the amount of tuition waiver to be used in the event she/he does not successfully complete the course(s). 246 - Employees interested in utilizing the tuition waiver program must submit their educational assistance application complete with departmental approval to Human Resource Development thirty (30) days prior to the semester billing date set by the Fees and Scholarship office. The application must be marked with a request for tuition waiver. 247 - If the above timelines are met and the educational assistance application is approved, Human Resource Development will forward a list of employees eligible for tuition waiver to the Fees and Scholarship office and to the Union. 248 - Employees will be responsible for all charges in excess of the matriculation fee and in excess of fourteen (14) credit hours over the academic year. Human Resource Development will supply the Fees and Scholarships office with the total credits available for tuition waiver for each eligible employee. In the event the approved course(s) is/are unavailable at the time of registration, other appropriate course(s) may be substituted and the application amended subject to the approval of the department administrator or designee and Human Resource Development. 249 - Employees who have had their tuition waived authorize Human Resource Development to verify successful completion of approved courses at the end of the semester. In cases where tuition waivers are withdrawn (e.g. terminated employee, non- approved course, unsuccessful completion), the University will attempt to payroll deduct the waiver tuition. If the University is unable to make collection through payroll deduction, the Union agrees to be responsible for the outstanding debt(s).
Tuition Waiver. A. The University shall maintain a space available tuition waiver program. When space is available, unit members and former unit members of emeritus status may enroll in a course on a tuition-free basis subject to the following requirements:

Tuition Waiver. Adjunct employees covered by this Agreement shall be eligible to enroll in one (1) credit course offered by the College each semester, without tuition charge under the tuition waiver guidelines established by the College. The participation of such adjunct employees in any course shall not permit such course to be conducted if it would otherwise be terminated for lack of sufficient paid enrollment.
Tuition Waiver. The spouse and/or child or children, including any adopted or stepchild or children of any unit member, who after the date of execution of this Agreement, shall have been admitted as a student in the regular day program at any College in the Community College System shall be entitled to matriculate as a student in such program without payment of any tuition and fifty percent (50%) of the fees save as is provided in Massachusetts General Laws; provided, however, said tuition free enrollment within the Community College System shall be limited to the day division only. All credit courses offered before 4 p.m. that are funded by continuing education (DCE) shall be considered to be part of the regular day program for the purpose of tuition and fee reimbursement. Fees charged to unit members, their spouses and dependents at community colleges shall, during the term of this agreement, not be more than was charged at any community college on September 1, 2009. In addition, each unit member and the spouse and dependent child or children shall be eligible for system-wide tuition remission as follows:
1. For enrollment in any state-supported course or program at the undergraduate or graduate level at any Community College, or State University or College, full tuition remission shall apply. For enrollment in any state supported course or program in the University of Massachusetts system, excluding the M.
Tuition Waiver. A member shall have the opportunity to enroll his/her children in the District’s educational program tuition-free. If possible, the student will be enrolled as an “Open Enrollment” student. The Association agrees the Board, the Administration, and Treasurer will be held harmless from an adverse Auditor of State or Court opinion on this matter.
Tuition Waiver. 32.01 Permanent employees and their dependents accepted in and registered for courses given by the University are exempt from the tuition fees for credit courses at the Undergraduate or Graduate rate established for "Canadian and other Students with Permanent Residence (Landed Immigrant) Status". For permanent part-time employees the exemption is prorated to hours worked.
32.02 The expression "courses given by the University" refers to all credit courses included in the regular curriculum as well as those offered through eConcordia.
32.03 For the purpose of this article, the term "dependents" means:
a) a spouse as defined in clause 3.15;
b) the child/children, that is to say any child of the employee, of her/his spouse, or of both, whether they are financially dependent or not on the employee.
32.04 The following persons are also entitled to a tuition waiver:
a) an employee who has retired from the University;
b) the spouse and the financially dependent children of an employee who has retired from the University, or of an employee who died while in the employ of the University.
32.05 Except as provided in clause 32.04, the tuition waiver applies to the employee and her/his dependents only for the duration of her/his permanent employment in the University. This right ceases at the moment the employee terminates her/his employment in the University, and in such an event the employee becomes responsible as of that date for a pro-rated amount of the tuition fees that had been waived. When an employee is laid off, the waiver of tuition remains in effect for the duration of the courses where the tuition has already been waived. Employees who at the time of hiring are registered for a course or courses given by the University will receive an exemption from the tuition fees prorated to the date of hire.
32.06 All rules and regulations of the University applicable to students apply also to employees and their dependents without exception.
32.07 An employee who, in order to complete a program leading to a University degree, must take the course that is not offered outside her/his regular working hours, may take the course during her/his hours of work, provided that a request is made in advance to her/his immediate supervisor and that an agreement is reached with her/him concerning the redistribution of her/his hours of work.
