Salary Averaging Sample Clauses

Salary Averaging. Raytheon implements a system of averaging payments for shift and overtime penalties. Averaging is applied in accordance with the employee's shift roster and compensates employees working a continuous shift the equivalent of 12.25 hours for each 12-hour shift worked. Compensation for shift penalties, weekend penalties and penalties for programmed overtime, have been included in the calculation of the salary averaged pay. Overtime, as defined in clause 12 of this Agreement, and penalties applicable for working public holidays as defined in clause 16 of this Agreement are not part of the averaging system and are paid in addition to the employee’s averaged pay. Because more than one shift roster may be in effect at any given time (depending on the employee's work area), the equivalent hours for the purpose of salary averaging will be 62.5 ordinary hours for all persons working any 12- hour shift. Persons working eight-hour shifts will be paid according to their shift roster. For the purposes of the salary averaging system the weekly equivalent paid hours for day workers is 41.5 ordinary hours. Day workers who voluntarily elect to “flex” and work over a weekend in exchange for equivalent time off on a different day within the same week will not receive additional compensation over-and-above their salary averaged pay. Other shift schedules may be worked by small numbers of employees and, where appropriate, will be compensated in accordance with the shift penalty rates as established in the Agreement. Raytheon and the Employees agree that any hours in excess of 38 hours per week, worked as stipulated by this clause are reasonable additional hours and the Employees agree to work the reasonable additional hours.
