Selection Committees. 15.2.2.1 A selection committee shall consist of three continuing employees from the department, including the Department Chair if appropriate, one continuing employee from a related department, and at the discretion of OC, the designated supervisor (or designate). The department shall invite a student who is a member of the appropriate Okanagan College student association. 15.2.2.2 A selection committee for a cross-appointed position (see clause 13.9) shall consist of an equal number of continuing employees from each department to a maximum of two from each, including the Department Chairs if appropriate, and at the discretion of OC, the designated supervisor(s) (or designate). If the Regional Xxxx is included, an additional department member may, at the discretion of the department, be included on the selection committee. If there are no more department members available, the representative may be from a related department. 15.2.2.5 A selection committee for a non-instructional position may include a vocational instructor on regular appointment. 15.2.2.6 The chair of a selection committee shall normally be the designated supervisor (or designate). 15.2.2.7 The designated supervisor (or designate) may relinquish the chair of the selection committee by appointing the Department Chair to chair the committee. 15.2.2.8 If the designated supervisor (or designate) is absent, the Department Chair shall chair the committee. Selection Committees. (a) When an opening occurs for a position of Department Head/School Chair, notice of the vacancy shall be posted on the appropriate union bulletin board. Applications for the position shall be accepted from departmental employees. A selection committee comprising of two (2) appropriate College representatives and two (2) departmental employees elected by and from the department shall be convened. This Committee shall review the applications and make a recommendation to the President for his decision. In making the recommendation, the Committee shall strive to select the best candidate by examining the candidate's qualifications and experience, as required to fulfill the administrative duties of the assignment and to meet the educational needs of the department.
Selection Committees. Where a selection committee is established to fill vacant positions within the bargaining unit, the Union can appoint up to two (2) members of the selection committee. It was reported that women often reject to be nominated due to higher workload and because they are not accepting to be selected only based on their sex. Selection Committees. (a) Selection Committees for CUPE positions will include at least one (1) CUPE bargaining unit member preferably from the department that is going through the hiring process; (b) The CUPE member(s) on the hiring committee will partake in:  discussion of equivalencies regarding education and experience;  internal and external candidate reviews, including seniority dates of internal candidates;  review of interview materials;  the shortlisting process prior to the interview;  test results; and  interviews. (c) All steps of this process shall remain confidential. (d) The CUPE bargaining unit member shall have the right to disagree with the selection committee decision and register disagreement with a note to the competition file with a copy to the Union.
